Anyone need something hauled?

Towing 99 Ram 2500

Do you need a special license to haul your own stuff across state(Fla)? I will get a 24' gooseneck .

commercial drivers license

I beleave that you only need a CDL commercial drivers license if you vehicle has air brakes OR is licensed for 26001 lbs or more witch is possible if you have 12k plates on truck and 16k on trailer regardless of what you are hauling. I am not sure if fla has more laws than wi I have 10-12k dual purpose plates on truck and in wi they skip 14k trailer plates they go from 12k to 16k so that is what my trailer is plated 16k and I do have cdl for work but comes in handy if stoped with my gneck I can go to 28k if hauling farm related items but only 26k if not Don't take this as the bible it has been some time since I have been educated but the D O T :)

happy hauling

What ??

I thought a CDL was only required if you got paid for the job. I don't think any special license is required to haul your own stuff.

I would check with your local DMV/licensing agency.

According to an article in National Dragster, the NHRA's weekly, any combo that is titled at 25001 (uh oh, might be 26001) needs to have a CDL. I. E. if your truck has a GVW of 11k, and your trailer is at 16k, you need CDL. If possible, get ahold of a copy of ND, as they just did a great article on towing etc... .

As long as your not making money in any way you'll be OK.

I know for a fact & have warnings to prove it that you need

3-things from 10,5000 to 26,000 combined weight if you are making money or profit in any way whem hauling across state lines

They are DOT#,logbook & med card but like I said only if your making money are you SUPPOSED to have it.

If you have an old Drivers license look on the back. It will describe

what you need for the weights you drive. Most everyone in FL has a Class E. Thats good up to 25K with hydraulic brakes. I have a Class D for pulling my 5fer which exceeds the length for Class E.

The weight is still within the Class E range but out in the length.

Best thing to do is call a DOT inspection office or stop and the Weigh Station north of Daytona and ask one of the guys in there.

I don't have any info here at home, but have all of it at the office

for the Tractor Trailer we have for hauling our stuff all over the country. Will try and remember to look tomorrow and send you an update.
