DC new BlueTec Diesel

Here is a new one, at least I don't recall reading about it before. The drivers rear door will not open. I have pulled off the panel and I know why but not exactly how to fix. I really don't want to buy a new door panel. :{ The plastic clip on the inside of the door panel the door opening cable snaps into is broken. I had temporarily stuck the cable the the panel using good old duck tape but need a perminate fix(the tape is now loose). Has anyone figured a way to fix this? I thought of maybe using a small plastic electric wire clamp glued or screwed to panel to hold the cable. Any other ideas or am I the first for this one!! I sure hope not.

You can purchase a wire wrap cable with the nipple that slips into the old cable clamp hole.

That's probably your best bet short of the junk yard or the dealer. The dealer may be able to get you an OEM clamp within a day or so.

Alan as I recall, its has been awhile since I had the panel off, there is no hole in the panel on mine. UR right if there was an old hole the cable clamped in it would work. If there was one there then that is what is broke off, have not removed other panel to look(I hate taking these panels off!!!). The thing that is broke is plastic and molded as part of the panel so no OEM clamp. I maybe going to junk yard for a new panel because I hate to give the dealer the $'s for a new panel. Thanks for ur thoughts on this.

Bob, You can also use one of the cable clamps with the peel away adhesive strip. If you think that might break away easily (i would think so), pick up some two part epoxy at the parts store and adhere the clamp to the door.

Alan Reagan - That is an excellent idea. In fact I may have some in my tool box already. Not sure they are large enough but I sure can get more; I am embarrassed I did not think of it. I have some other things to do first but as soon as I can will try it and let you all know if it works. :) THANKS.

Hope it works. Make sure to let the epoxy sit for the recommended cure time. Also, clean the spot on the door where you are going to put the clamp with denatured alcohol or a similar cleaner so that the epoxy adheres.
