I have a 1999 club cab and I need a new drivers electric seat. Does anyone know what will fit? What yrs and what models. Has anyone changed one before? I have over 200,000 miles on the truck and the cushioning, motors and pretty much the entire seat has worn out. I know I can recover it, but that will not help the cushioning. I would love to find a wrecked low mile truck with a seat that would fit.

You can replace the cushion too. Since '99 is the end of the line for Club Cabs, and Quad Cabs use a different seat (the seatbelt is built into the seat and it doesn't fold forward) you might be out of luck.

I believe '98 is the first year of that style seat. They were nice enough to give me the quad cab seat (non-electric) without the quad cab. Great for getting people/stuff in and out of the back. NOT! I believe they are the same from 1998. 5-2002, and some '98s.

I adapted a set of new 2003's into my 1997 club cab.

I hate 'em.

The '97 seats were a lot more comfortable.

Mom's got a late model Honda that has comfortable seats, I may try to trade her, (if I can just find the right color Krylon to match the rest of her interior. ) :-laf

I tried to find a link to a site that tells you how to fix that, no luck. You take the seat bottom out turn it upside down, remove stuff down to and including the wire grid. Cut a piece of 2" foam the size that will fit the seat, then get a carpet sample, the kind with jute backing, cut the same size as the foam. Put in the foam then carpet reinstall the wire grid and the rest of the seat, put back in truck. I did this to my truck about four years ago, what a tremendous difference. Felt like a new seat cost less than $20.

Suggestion!! use a good grade of seat cushion foam material, over just regular foam. It will last longer and give better performance. Regular foam will loose it resilience, over time, like the kitchen chairs do.

There is article on how to do it with pictures in issue #35 on page 14 and 15 of the TDR mag. I did it to mine when I received that issue and have had a comfortable seat since then.

Does anybody know where I can get this article?? Issue 35 is not available any longer in print or in the archive.

Seriously, I would suggest taking the seat to an upholstery shop. The last seat I took in (not a dodge) had worn out foam. It came back better than new. I did have to find a good shop. The first one I tried was not interested.

to add a few things, the wire will cut through the foam over time some thin carpet prevents that I also used some 1/2" commercial pull ties to replace the broken wires one time worked slick to get them all tensioned even, I also have pulled the cover clear off the foam and cut some hi density to fix the left leg lumbar 3M glue it down and stick it back together.

That was the purpose of the carpet samples in my original post.

The carpet business is also explained in the pages I posted above. If you have trouble reading the pages you can zoom in on the images.

Thanks for the time and effort it took to scan this. I will be fixing my driver's seat very soon. Thanks for the installations tips also. The people on this forum are very kind and generous.
