Drivers side front door lock will not release

Drivers side door will not release with the key in door opener, door power lock switch, or with the remote keyless entry. I am able to open the door from the inside, however when I close it, it is locked again.

I removed the door panel, water dam, disconnected the latch actuater rod and attempted to manually operate the rod to release lock, the interior door handle rod would still open the door. What am I not seeing?

There were no loose rods, screws, bolts or nuts hiding at bottom of door panel. What is the purpose of the wires going to the door latch assembly? Could the latch itself be the problem??

Maybe check the Batteries in the remote ?stranger thing's have happened

The latch has the lock solenoid, possibly shorted or has break in wire. Mine did the exact same thing on my way to May Madness, fixed with new latch.
