If anyone that has replaced the drivers side could chime in: I "whacked" the mirror to the front (not sure if it was my fault or the others or both) so hard that the side that goes against the door has a crack . Its minor butt, am wondering if that piece is replaceable (snap together or?) or does one need the whole mirror?

Also, if anyone has a "broken" mirror they replaced, would be interested in the part or parts needed to fix this one. No glass broken just the minor crack in the housing. Could take pic and post if necessary. If no-one has the part or its not replaceable by itself, will "glue & screw" & duct tape & RTV if necessary :D .

Ben,

I had to replace a passenger side mirror for almost the same reason. Unfortunately, they're a complete assembly. Your only choice is to buy a new mirror. Or else, get the duct tape!

I also had to replace my drivers side... . I don't know if you have priced them yet ,but in east central Indiana they were $370+tax:mad:

I knew they are not cheap and the crack is so minor that I was wondering if they could be "parted-out" to smaller pieces. Since they cannot be. . duct tape here I come... ... .

Thanks for the info.

Earlier this summer a guy smacked the drivers side of my F-150 (the reason for me now owning a Dodge Ram 2500), causing the metal frame of my tow mirror to hit my side window. The side window was shattered, but the glass that makes up the mirror popped out in one piece. It was held on by 3 blobs of silicon sealant. But the interesting thing was that the glass was a mirror on both sides. In the 10 years that I had the truck I had scratched both mirrors, but the side with the sealant was in perfect condition, with no scratches or dirt. Before you replace the whole assembly you might try popping the glass out and if it is mirrored on both sides you could just flip it over to the good side.
