2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Driver's Window Problem Going Up

I have a 2000 Ram 4x4 Quadcab Short bed having a problem with the driver’s side window.



It has always gone down normal, still goes down normal; the problem is trying to get the window back up.



It started out that the window wouldn’t go back up if I used the ‘auto down’ portion of the switch, you had to wait a few minutes then it would come up. If I stopped it right before it was all the way down (on 'auto down') the window would go back up fine.



Next it started only going up half way regardless of whether the 'auto down' was used or not, and then I would have to wait a few minutes before it would go the rest of the way up.



Now it will only go up ~ ½" - ¼” at a time and you have to wait about 4-5 minutes before it will move again at all. Not good when it's raining out!



No problem with the pax window with either side control, or the door locks.



Any idea what the problem is? Maybe the relay?

i am having the exact same problem. I am wondering of the brushes are going bad. Have not torn into it yet, looking to remove the motor soon and take it to a rewind shop to see if the brushes are bad

mine just started having probs too, but I noticed that the glass seems loose on its track and I think that is the root of the problem( in other words I think that the glass binds on the way up... ) I will need to remove the door panel to check it out

Channel gasket

I had the same issue a few years ago. The glass had worn through the gasket allowing it to cock and catch. Replaced the gasket and it has been fine since.

The window does not act like it is binding in the track at all and stays level all the way down.



When I ‘help' it go up, place my hands on each side and pull up, it doesn't make any difference other than it will go up ~ ¾” - 1” with help, then just stops like before. I've tried ‘jiggling' the window while helping it up in case it's binding in the track but it seems free and doesn't make any difference.



I would not suspect the switch, and it doesn't appear to be binding unless I'm missing something...



Can the relay do this or are we looking at the motor - or ?

Verify that your switch is indeed working. If all else, hot wire the motor and see if that works.

My GM work truck started having the same problem after only 20k miles. Turns out that dust accumulation in the switch was causing my problem. A few seconds of compressed air on the switch cured my ills.
