2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission driveshaft prob?

Last week I was having a grinding noise while under acceleration. On Sat night I decided to do some investigating myself. When I took the driveshaft loose from the axle, one of the caps fell off and dumpeda bunch of dark dust fell out. The needle bearings were completely gone:--) the carrier bearing looks like it is being preloaded and pushed sideways until it hits the housing. the slip joint seemed like it was not seized once I got the u- joint loose. It also looks like the fwd slipjoint is being shoved all the way to the front and causing a leak at the transfercase. I want to eliminate the 2pc. driveshaft for a 1 pc. but I have been told that makes it too long. What is going on with this? it is still under warranty so what are my options?

Ford (or was it Chevy?) opted for a one piece very beefy driveshaft after numerous failures trying to correct driveline noise on the two piece unit. So a fix is possible but not under warranty unless you can convince the Ford dealer that your rig's really a Ford.

It sounds like your "lubed for life" u-joints didn't get the ration of grease they needed, let the dealer fix it if you still have warranty. Be forewarned that if you have any power enhancements they will blame the driveline on them and deny the warranty.

My truck is still stock for now in the power dept (for now ) My problem seems like the aft slipjoint froze and was causing everything to try to move fwd under acceleration, UNTIL I pried the u-joint free from the diff. I replaced the u-joint myself and neversiezed the slipjoint since I need my truck for transportation.
