Last week I was having a grinding noise while under acceleration. On Sat night I decided to do some investigating myself. When I took the driveshaft loose from the axle, one of the caps fell off and dumpeda bunch of dark dust fell out. The needle bearings were completely gone:--) the carrier bearing looks like it is being preloaded and pushed sideways until it hits the housing. the slip joint seemed like it was not seized once I got the u- joint loose. It also looks like the fwd slipjoint is being shoved all the way to the front and causing a leak at the transfercase. I want to eliminate the 2pc. driveshaft for a 1 pc. but I have been told that makes it too long. What is going on with this? it is still under warranty so what are my options?
