Well I finally got everything back together due to that little "C" clip in the transfer case. This is the second one to break in a year #ad
, I decided to do a little preventative maintenence since I had the transfer case already off. I got the Standard Transmission's fully splined mainshaft, so I wouldn't have to worry about losing 5th gear. I also had the U-joints changed to the "old-fashioned" greaseable type... just had 155k mi on the factory ones #ad
.

I have a vibration in my drivetrain now at about 70mph, took it back to the shop where the removal and reinstall of X-fer and gear box and u-joints were done. the owner and I took it out for a spin... same vib, so we took it back to the shop and started checking, one side of the U-joint had some slop in it, so we got another U-joint... still have the vibration, at the same speed.

What else could it be??? Any ideas will help.

Thanks,
Scott

I had a simular experience once, after installing greaseable u-joints had a bad vibration. Had to get my drive shafts balanced, which cured the problem. Perhaps the added weight of the grease zerk fittings throws the original balance off?.
