Pemex blues.

The LA Times reported recently that Mexico is importing 44% of their domestic consumption of oil now. Apparently they had an accident on one of their wells in the Gulf resulting in the loss of 20 workers. It's severely restricted their output. No telling what diesel they're burning. Don't chance it. P. S. I attended the San Diego Auto Show and was talking to the owner of Sportsmobile. He markets his rigs as Baja ready but has to warn prospective buyers of the lack of ULSD in Mexico. He got a lot of negative feedback from 6. 0 buyers also. Now with the 6. 4,who knows?

Actually I read a article recently that to put it bluntly said "Don't drive your own vehicles over in Mexico" rent if possable ONCE your there. This was for many reasons which I probably don't need to mention.

Ran my old CTD's down Baja many times with no fuel troubles. I would not take my 6. 7 though. Not worth screwing up the DPF.

BTW, I always came back from Mexico. I have also flown small aircraft in Mexico and never had fuel or other problems.

Pemex diesel.

I live 20 minutes from $2. 16/gallon fuel. My neighbor is going soon to Otay Mesa. If you time it right, border wait is minimal. Insurance is a must. We buy it from Discover Baja Travel Club. I've got a feeling it's our fuel anyway, just rebadged. You can't beat their tacos either!

I'm not convinced it's our fuel. Maybe sometimes, but the DPF is so darned expensive I don't want to replace it on my dime

I've both rented cars and taken my 05 3500 Dually into Mexico... .

All the gas stations in Mexico are run by the government and post the same pricing in each town... . We've found them clean and safe and have never had a problem with the fuel... We've also worked with several fleets that use our clutch line and have found they don't have much of a problem... .

Remember the 5. 9L and the 6. 7L are world engines which are designed to work anywhere... sooner than later all engine manufactures will follow with their own designs...

It's not the engines or injection systems that we need to worry about its the contamination to the CAT and DPF after the engine... . And it will handle some LSD...
