Driving Lights/with high beams?

I can not find my TDR mag with the instructions on wireing driving/fog lamps with headlamps on high beam dose anybody know how? Also will the bridging of the relay burn up my headlamp switch? Thanx in advance. #ad

You need to use a relay as the headlight switch cannot handle extra current other than the 300ma "pull in" from the relay. Dodge uses a "always hot" configuration which means the headlights are always connected to +12 and the headlight switch makes the connection to ground to complete the circuit. The "pull in" circuit on the relay should have one wire connected to constant +12 and the other wire tapped into the headlight wire that grounds when the headlights are turned on. I've been running PIAA 1200's off one 40amp relay connected this way for a couple of months with good results.

Dane thanx for info. Found info on search under fog lamps, claim it will not hurt headlamp switch. Did it on my 99 and had no problems. Will try on 2001. 5. You bridge pin #3 and #5 at fuse panal or gut the relay and soldier them internally.

The fog lamps are on a relay driven circuit. The extra current will not go through the headlight switch. The fix works great. Mine has been that way for almost two years

I have Geno's "Brite Box" and since installing it on my '99 my fog lights don't work when you switch to high beam. Can this jumper modification be done in conjunction with the Brite Box?

One of the problems with getting old is I am now suffering from CRS. Can't remember ****
That said, I do believe to the best of my memory, that I did have fog lights and high beams at the same time prior to the Brite Box installation. But that is in the past now for I wouldn't forfeit my Brite Box after using it. Gotta love seeing where you are headed at 75mph. Dave

I imagine your fogs didn't come on with the high beams BEFORE the Brite-Box either since that is how DC wired these trucks.

The jumper at the two quarter-inch lugs at the fog lamp relay in the Power Distribution Center will allow your fog lamps to be on when you select high beams, with or without the Brite-Box.
