Depends on what you want out of them, off road or highway use, where they will mount and what size you are limited to.

I bought a set of Hella FF1000 Driving Lights. They are pretty amazing. Come standard with 55w bulbs and I won't be upgrading the bulb either.

I mounted them on a Jeep to supplement the high beam and they offer plenty of light IMO especially if you are using them on the road.

I have these KC's on the truck and they work equally well but do it with 130w bulbs.

I bought a set of Hella's here:

Hella FF1000 Driving Lights and Pencil Beams and in HID Xenon for just 89. 75 you get 2 + all the wiring. They are pretty amazing. Come standard with 55w bulbs and I won't be upgrading the bulb either.

I have these KC's on the truck but have not had time to wire them up yet so we will see about those.

How much heat do the ff1000 lights put out? I would like to mount some (or something) behind the grille on my 99. .

By that I assume you are concerned about melting something in front of the lens which I doubt would happen with just a 55w bulb. The housings are a composite of some sort and the lens is not glass.

When I asked the seller if they would take a 100w bulb the answer was yes however it voids the warranty. Just for fun I will take a temperature reading and let you know this weekend just how hot they do get.

I purchased Cibi lights. 3 mounted on a Defiant light bar. 2 are Euro driving light and one (center)is a pencil light. All are wired into high beam switch. I had never heard of Cibi light until reading a thread hear. I have no regrets.

Thank you Matt:

Yes I am concerned about the heat, I have done this before but always with a metal grille..... I used to use Lucas flamethrowers which produced a lot of heat.

Ok. . what I did was put a piece of cardboard up to the lamp about an inch away, turned them on and in 2 minutes the cardboard had peaked at 135 degrees and didn't seem to be going any higher.

I measured the hot spot with an infrared heat gun.

PIAA 520's with 85w bulbs here... 9 years old, had to clean and repaint them once, but has been a great light! wired them to the high beam circuit with a driving style light... have been great.
