Hey BIG you ever consider Sirius sattellite radio? Even if you dont drive very much anymore, you can still buy an adapter and plug it in to the home stereo for listening around the house. Theyve got more channels than Im even aware of, music types of all kind from the 40's on up. Plus theyve got many different news channels if your on the road and feel like getting depressed while driving :-laf. Im not for certain of the prices for a single unit, we pay around 75 bucks a year for 2 units, one in the wifes car and one in mine. We both spend a fair amount of time on the road, my drive to work is about 30 minutes each way. The music is commercial free and theres so much variety I never get tired of listening. I never listen to fm radio anymore*I dont think I could go back.

That has been a given for a long time. I have docks, 3 in the house Bedroom, kitchen, front room stereo, one for each of the trucks in the family one in the barn and the shop and the greenhouse one on the tractor that the wife drives to plow snow with one on my four-cart that the mules pull with the battery for power with a lifetime subscription to Sirius. I kind of think that base has been covered. :-laf Dont know if you listen to music as much as I do but it to is a replay system they play the same music over and over they just have a bigger base to choose from. Its just when I drive I like road music. Dont really want or need to listen to some Taylor Swift crap or Carrie Underwood SCREAM AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS!!!!!! Music in going down hill fast in my opinion because it was the first thing to cut back on in schools. The arts have taken a beating BUT NOT FOOTBALL ( thats a whole different discussion)

Satellite Radio for me as well, have it in the '08 van built in and also own two portable head units. I have kits that accept the the head units in both pick-ups, Gizmo, the garage and a boom box style kit that the wife takes on jobsites. I also have the on-line subscription so I can listen at work. I am a junkie... ...

The internet subscription is great, plus if you hear a song that you like and you have not heard it for 20 years or so you can hit a button and it will link you directly to i-tunes so that you can purchase and download the song. Have purchased quite a bit of my i-tunes collection that way.

Wife and I were discussing this the other day as we never listen to FM anymore. That means no weather or alerts so if a tornado was heading up I-95 we would never know it was coming... ... :D

Wife also confessed to listening to the Playboy channel, that could get interesting... ..... I'm jiggy with it. . ;)

Go buy an i-pod and have a family member load it up for you. My daughter is a freakin' mix-master when it comes to music.

She has assembled some great playlists for both myself and the wife... She got my love of music.

I didnt know that they did the above  usually when im on the computer I pull up an artist and hit the most popular it gives like 20 songs and hide that in the background and be on line at some forum. Does it cost to get on line or is it free to subscribers of sirius? either way it sounds like a good deal.

If I would have had Sirius when I was over the road I would have to found a way to run 4 log books it would have added that much more for me.

This is a one hit wonder, only one track and doesn't last all the way from MT to the county line, but Radar Love always was fun to drive to as long as it lasts.

I'd load up on old C&W stuff. But sometimes I've scanned AM to pick up some local stuff, At this week's swap meet Jimbo will have his hot boiled peanuts again, be sure and get ya a sample. Or some weird talk show.

Where you already have a subscription I think it only adds a couple of bucks a month to the bill.

The screen looks like the attached shot, the i-tunes button is just above the mouse pointer.

Thanks Mike I dont have a bill the wife got me a lifetime subscription for like 300 bucks way back. When we were driving to a disaster area we were forever fiddling around with the truck radio to find something to listen to so the lifetime ended that. I WILL LOOK INTO THE DEAL THAT YOU MENTIONED Im LOST WITHOUT MY MUSIC.

Well BIG it sounds like your the one schooling me on the Sirius . I did not know they do recordings like on FM I just thought the songs were randomly generated except during request hours and such. So apparantly I dont listen long enough which is a good thing because it just doesnt get old for me. If I get tired of listening to a station theres enough other stuff to keep my simple mind distracted ;). Plus Ive got an older unit that records songs so if for some reason I dont find anything interesting I go to my library which has hours upon hours of songs. I have never seen anywhere in the book how much memory its got but let me tell you its a ton. Been recording since 05 or 06 and I still have not maxed out on memory and Ive got all my original stuff it does not erase as the memory gets full (or at least has not started yet).

The Playboy channel is a good one to listen to, especially if mama is in the car and up for a little trip down frisky lane :D

They set it up on a replay of like 12 hours so every 12 hours they start over again and it plays for like a month then it selects and new program and plays that for a time it seems to me that its every 12 hours and every month that a change happens. Sounds like we had allot of time on our hands to figure that out but when we were working at a disaster site it was how ever many hours you could take and that was a day!!!

I wont listen to much to talk radio its boring to me when my partner was driving he was in-charge of the tunes he would listen but I was asleep and didnt care. Its just that its some one's opinion that is in my opinion WACKED OUT.

Wife did the frisky thing ONE TIME coming back from Las Vegas on the oral hwy Interstate 15. I LOOKED DOWN AT THE SPEEDO AND WAS DOING 95 MPH AND ALL OVER THE ROAD!!!! pulled into Barstow got a motel room and took care of the feeling in the proper way.

BIG

PS it was with the WIFE not my partner on the hwy LOL LOL im one ahead of you!!!!

Well then I think you've just answered your own question. There's nothing like a nice Allmans live jam for the road. Like the mountain jam on the Atlanta festival album. I was on the road yesterday for about an hour n a half, I brought the Neil young playlist I have on cd. Then I found the gun debate when I made a pitstop, then I streamed that over 3G and the phone speaker.

But yhea, make my traveling music southern rock/ blues/ jazz/ with a side order of heavier classic rock.

Thinking. Another recent discovery I made was Pandora. I have the app on my phone and we plumb it through the stereo in the shop. Not too practical on the road, but awesome at home.

Pandora is pretty good, and most newer vehicles have the jack you can plug into and play music off of your phone/ipod. Im old school still, I have the trusty cassette adapter

One thing to remember if you subscribe ,Don't do it over the internet, when you call them they will tell you a certain price, but if you ask them to make you a deal , they are authorized to discount it for 50 percent, But you have to ask, or they won't do it, Monte
