will i have a problem towing?

... . need to take a buddys Columbia to Cali. Wednesday. Thing has one of those 10 speed "automatic" trannys in it. You use the clutch to start off with then it shifts by itself, correct? How about coming up to a stop?

Push the clutch in when you stop. The computer will select the proper gear. It also up-shifts, down- shifts while operating the throttle and clutch to make a smooth shift.

same thing like a manual. slow down with brake then just before you come to a stop, push in the clutch... like a regular manual.

Those are pretty nice but you see what it is doing, I drive truck ( tripples) and these rigs that have auto manuals, are getting a lot of inexperienced drivers on the road for a big rig like this..... I drive a super ten... ( like a 5 and a 2 speed), and I am still learning.

All I can tell you is drive and resect that rig like it can kill you because it can and will... If you are overconfident... be carefull

Don't you downshift your truck to slow down? I've never not downshifted unless it was an emergency stop. Just wondering

The transmission clutches and downshifts for you, no driver input.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I understand this transmission the 10 speed auto does the shifting on it's own I was asking about what Eric said

I thought that doing this would lug the engine and cause clutch wear.

Just wondering.

As usual guys, thanks for the replys !! turns out the guy took it down himself today, seems like there was more involved then originally thought. I ain't afraid of it, heck been pulling 48' Hi cubes with the Ram the past 2 weeks, should see some of the looks I get! Maybe that had something to do with my 6 speed going BOOm last Thursday! Made 2 runs already this week with the new trans and SBC Con FE
