 How many of you CTD owner have driven with a leaking injector pump? It's a small dribble from the front top of pump. Am I waiting for disaster or will my rig keep-on- truckin' till I get the injector pump totally repaired/rebuilt? It drips as far as the oil pan, I just keep drying it up after a run. I enjoy the truck, but it pi$$es me off with little problems. Thank guys for sharing any of your experiences, Patrick :D

Patrick,

Tell me EXACTLY the location of the leak and I'll tell you more info. It may prove to be a minor repair on the truck or you'll have to pull the thing. Don't fret. It'll be ok bud!! We are all in this together.

Details pleez.

My dads 90 has been leaking around the throtle shaft where it goes into the top of the pump for a couple of years now. Doesn't hurt anything, just makes a mess.

Mine leaked and leaked and leaked, no fires or other problems, just messy. When I hit 14 mpg I pulled the pump and fixed. Not say'in this is the way to do things, but just trying to answer your question, gotta live within your budget and sometimes this is the results. Hank

If you are going to repair this, get the upgraded throttle shaft bushing as well. Press the old one out and the new one in. Easy fix but requires completely removing the top of the pump. Go ahead and replace the top cover gasket at this time as well.

A perfect excuse to put int he 3200GSK as well!

Great replys everyone. This site continues to be AWSOME! Greeleaf, it is at the top in front, approximately 10mm hex nut on the pump facing the gear cover. I have tightened it with a small center punch a year ago when it leaked. It had stopped until a week ago. I did not want to tighten any more, afraid of stripping it. I have 187,500 on this engine. Thanks again for all the angles... What is a 3200GSK? Patrick.

Patrick,

I'm looking at a pump now... ... and don't see a "10 mm hex nut, near the top, facing the gear case" Augh! Where is this thing?

You speaking of the lock nut on the end of the gov. shaft??

The 3200gov spring (kit?) which is nothing more than a spring you'll install if you choose to remove the pump's top cover aka the gov linkage housing, not the AFC top cover. This spring will allow your pump to hold the fueling point farther up into the rpm range and net you a higher rpm and all out kick-but/seat-of-the-pants feel farther up into the rpm's :) You'll luv it.

In laymans trems... ..... the rubber band will wind tighter dude!

Sorry, I still don't know the point of leakage. It's probably something you'll be able to do on your own, however sending it out for re-freshining would not be a bad idea either.

Maybe give me more details... .....

this sounds like the leak TJ's truck had just a few weeks ago - The governer bolt o-ring. It is between and below where the KSB solenoid bypass vent tube and the low pressure supply line thread into the top-front of the pump. It's a 14mm brass nut and washer, virtually inaccesable by any known wrench, and sorry to say, not possible to repair without removing the pump... but it is doable and as we found out not difficult at all, just nuts and bolts.
