I have a 2013 3500 with a bad vgt actuator. My turbo stops working at operating temperature. I am wondering if I can drive the truck empty for a awhile without doing much harm? I understand I am running the risk of needing to clean the intercooler and dpf possibly?

How is that even possible? If the turbo "stops working", it should set a low boost fault/limp home mode. Even if it did not, it would restrict the exhaust and intake to the point it would barely run, would probably have high EGT and clog the heck out of the DPF.

Have the P226 codes on my 11 right now.
I knew my DPF was cracked (so it at tailpipe exit), and now my turbo is limping.
Unsure if it will damage things, but mine is going in the shop Tuesday for a new DPF with a cleaning flange built into it (allows for opening the DPF at the wider body area to clean it out better), turbo rebuild with billet wheel, new actuator, and complete EGR cleaning.
My EGTs unloaded in 110° weather are in the 800-900 range on flat ground/small grades.
