I dropped one in the # 4 cylinder about 2 months ago.

I'm sure it was from running a single turbo , tst, 90 hp injectors and a ez box.

Temps in the 1/8 mile would peg the gauge.

It's all good now.

How did the top end of the engine look after the head was off? Pistons-cylinder walls.

David told me about this. Glad every thing is ok now.

Seems like you need two parts to this poll so we can see how common it is.

IE; How many have dropped seats and what years.

Scotty

this poll is just really to get an idea of how common it is. and in what years. with what mods.

The # 1 cylinder had 3 marks on the top of the piston (about the size of a ballpoint pen ) but other then that everything looked fine.

I think the poll should be divided into 03- early 04 and 04. 5-07.

My brother dropped a valve in his 04. 5. This destroyed the piston, head, and cylinder wall. His truck is a bone stock 3500 6 speed. It took the local dealer 2 months to eventually diagnose the problem and install a new short block. They refused to give him a loaner truck, as did DC.

I cast a vote for 05-07.

Why did you start the poll did a truck come in the shop with a drop seat. Sorry for HJ/ your thread.

03 HO ,tst,1800 egt when sledpulling, lost seat at 135k miles when truck was sitting not running.

Minor piston damage ,cleaned up piston and replaced head with a 06 port and polished head . .

Rob you know how to get the ball rolling in the right zone Oo.

so only eight people have dropped valve seats??? seems like there has been more posts about dropped valve seats.

Robert

OK, it's a pretty informal, non-scientific poll, but I added a No Problems to the possible selections.

I have not had problems (yet) with my 03 with 55,000 miles

thanks. i havent has any issues with mine either 40,000 very very hard miles. still with the stock turbo, and cp3.
