What do you guys think of this video?

I drove a new 05 D-Max and the turbo lag was horrible or was it the transmission. After you hit it at any speed it took a while to really kick in. Is this the norm?

I'd bet thats how the ecm is programmed. Probably less harshness on the motor and transmission. Try a chip see if she wakes up.

V8 diesels come alive when they get closer to 2000 rpm

The 6. 0 is the same or worse. You really have to ream the out V8's for them to move. I can remember my '96 F-350 was never like the new trucks. It seemed like instant throttle response.

lag

A buddy of mine has a Duramax, I think it's an 04, nice truck. He said his truck drove the same way, then he put on a little box, the Hypertech, and he says it got rid of the lag and responds right away. I told him from the start, just like many on here have said, if you are going to do any power enhancements get the guages first.

Needless to say, he still hasn't put the gauges on and he recently pulled his toyhauler up to South Dakota for the annual Harley ralley he said he set the Hypertech on level 3 and left it there. His trailer isn't that big and he wasn't carrying a whole lot of weight, two Harleys, but still that's just not the smartest thing to do. He said he pulled at 75 mph most of the trip, I can't help but think the egts may have been a tad high. Not like he is clueless,he belongs to the dieselplace.com and they are the ones that suggested the hypertech, over some of the other boxes, due to the fact that it would be kinder to his stock transmission.

That's just the "power curve" of those engines. That's the way a V8 Diesel seems to be. The FlowerPoke is the same way.

Hay, I like that "FlowerPoke", it sounds better than PowerJoke.

Yea I can't believe all the gms running around with out gauges. I geuss they must yank there boxxes when warrenty time pops up. Think the daeler will be able to tell what caused a piston to have a melt down?
