Kinda gettin the fever so me and wifey went lookin. Sure felt funny not having to shift gears. Present truck is 06 with 242k. Will probably get me a list together and prder one. Might even get the auto and the 4. 10. That max-tow option sounded nice also. A lot of the things I want seems to come standard on the new ones. Color may be the big thing to consider. With the rebate and 2. 9% sure gonna think hard!!

Just got a 2012 Longhorn Max Tow with everything. We really like the truck so far. Have only towed about 300 miles but I was impressed. Seemed to be better than my 94 or 03 when they were "chipped". Mileage does not seem to be all that great but it is new. I never even drove one before taking delivery. I new what I wanted and they found one so I did not have to wait. I think they got it right this time. Engine, transmission, braking, integrated brake controller and everything else really work nicely. The dealer told me to put it in tow/haul, turn on the exhaust brake and go to work and that is pretty well how it performs. My wife was even impressed with its towing abilities and all the creature comforts. If you go looking it'll probably cost you! Have fun.

Driving one of these new trucks is all it will take. I was always a Ford guy, made a jump to a Dodge Megacab in 2007. Wanted and fell in love with all the interior room. Although it had a Hemi I really enjoyed that truck. My needs changed and I wanted more power for pulling. One test drive of a 2011 6. 7L was all it took. I then shopped around for what i felt was the best deal I could get. The "drive" of these trucks is greatly improved over previous years. The interior is also a big improvement. The Cummins engine speaks for itself. Glad I made the choice...

The 06 will be traded in or sold outright. It is paid for. Kind of leanin to the slt, I think he said it would be the lonestar.

NEVER trade in a truck that is worth around $20K. It will cost you $5,000 to trade it in. Its pretty easy to sell it locally. I sold my Loaded 2005 6 months ago for $26K. The trade in value I was given was $20K. I sold it on craigslist in about 10 days. Just say ''Cash or local bank only''. I meet the guy at his Credit Union and left with a bank check from his bank to my bank:) Worked out really well for all of us. Except I wish I could have kept it... .

I wonder what my truck is worth? It does have some miles on it but it is in excellent shape. New clutch at 198k and new trannsmission at 204k. I have all the maintenance records, even all the fuel put in it since new has been cocumented. Was kind of hopin to sell it outright, get it sold then they take possession when the new one gets here.

Okie

That is not always true. In Idaho, if you can get a fair trade value it is worth it to trade in on a new vehicle. Your tax liability is less. You are only taxed on the amount of the selling price minus the trade in value. Sometimes the savings will be worth the hassle of selling on your own.

You got 198K out of a G-56 dmf? That's got to be a record. :)

I sat in a new CTD at the Auto Show here. Really nice! The quality of interior components is much higher than mine. Even the mess under the hood is nowhere near as hopeless as the Duramax's and ESPECIALLY the Ford's. Lots of guys were taking photos of the engine compartment on the Ford. I don't know if it was horror or admiration of Ford's uncanny ability to cram all that crap under there.

Ford's got a winner in the Ecoboost F-150 for those in need of a 1/2 ton. The F-150 cab is so comfortable and the fit and finish was super.

I traded my 2004. 5 for

I traded my 2004. 5 for $2000. 00 more than any dealer offered me at Gibson City Il. I drove about 3. 5 hours to make the trade, but with the difference in sales tax I came out about the same. If you don't mind driving to Il. You can make your deal on the internet or phone and go pick up your truck. I couldn't believe it, but I checked with several other dealers that were much closer to me and they didn't come close to his price. If you need more contact information on the dealer, let me know.

Key words are 'fair trade value' dealers make money on selling vehicles, new and used. If you spend some time selling your older truck you pocket the money the dealer would put into cleanup, labor, overhead, etc. .

I have bought many vehicles. . the key is to do your homework. Know what yours is worth and know what you are willing to spend on the new purchase. If the deal is not right for you walk away and go to another dealership on the next street corner. Shopping around only makes you more knowledgeable about your purchase. I never get rid of a vehicle that I haven't already detailed myself, whether I'm selling it on my own or trading it in. Having maintenance records with you also is a big plus. I have had dealers tell me that they were not even going to get any detailing done. You might not get the private party money of selling it yourself but here anyways with the additional tax savings you can get close. I like the whole car buying experience, my wife thinks I am crazy...

Will prolly order this week. Think I will get white since inferno red is not available. I assume it is still true if you tow alot go with the 4. 10.

Okie

Sounds good! Good luck with your purchase. . I went with the 3. 73's seem to be about the middle of the road as far as gearing/ mileage goes.

I had 3. 73's in my 05 with the 48RE trans, I now have the MaxTow with 4. 10 gears, don't even think about anything else, you will really like the 4. 10's with the 6 speed auto, they were made to go together
