Drove a unique 4500 today.....

I heard back from the salesperson today and they do not want to remove the bed and sell the truck to me as a C&C only. They do not get it that the sides are too high to be used as a 5th wheel hauler. The sides as they sit are 58 inches from the ground. With my 5th wheel trailer leveled, the overhang is 57 inches from the ground. So you can see that this pickup bed has to go in order to be used as a 5th wheel hauler. Even if I raise the front of the fifth wheel to hookup, there would be no clearance room between the fiver and the pickup sides.



They just called and her boss wants to bring the truck over to see for himself. So tomorrow at 1:30 they will be here and see for themselves what I have been saying.

Don't let them talk you into the squating theory, my 3500 C&C hardly squats when I connect my Arctic Fox with a dry pin weight of #1500.

They said they were going to fix the small imperfections in the bed first. I thought that since they were going to "fix" the bed, that really means they are not going to sell the truck to me. I doubt I will hear from them again.



Oh well, it just means that it is their loss. No one is EVER going to buy that truck. Unfortunately, it also means that I will have to continue to drive a Ford truck too.

Must be a really stubborn/stupid sales manager. Too proud to admit his mistake or may feel that his job would be in jeopardy for spending a few thousand dollars for the fancy bed on a 4500 and then setting it on blocks in the backlot.

His loss. You can buy the truck you want at any Dodge dealer in the USA.

Someone will eventually buy the truck; however, it may not be used to tow a 5th wheel trailer. It would make a nice truck to haul my large heavy slide-in truck camper if the bed is not over 8' long and my camper jacks will lift the camper high enough to back the truck under it.

The aftermarket custom beds are extended to at least 8. 5' long and really tall. I'm not sure but have doubts that the standard slide-in camper jacks could lift high enough.

Anybody know what's up with the Dodge.com site and checking inventory? I've done all kinds of inventory searches and haven't come up with hardly any Laramie 4500's in stock, however, a buddy sent me a link to a Dodge dealer's website in North Carolina and he shows about 15 4500's and 10 or so 5500's in stock. When I check out the dealer's inventory through the Dodge.com site though, it shows that this particular dealer has NONE of the bigger trucks in stock. I'm now wondering how many other dealers have trucks in stock that the Dodge.com sites doesn't know about.

Well, it's been a week since they were supposed to bring the 4500 to me to the campground. I've had no word from the salesperson so I am officially writing this truck off.



My wife is really wanting me to wait until we return to Texas to pursue/order a new truck. I guess I'll do that.

Dodge may be in the process of changing the website over to 2010 models and may not be currently updating dealer inventories or, the bankruptcy shut down and dealer closures may have had an impact on keeping the website up.

I think it's going to be very difficult to find a C&C Laramie in a dealer's inventory. 95% of C&Cs I've seen on dealer lots are basic ST work trucks. I think I have seen a couple of SLTs but even they are rare. I agree with your wife.

I do agree with you. Both the CC 3500 DC and CC 4500/5500 Fords do have tougher frame and suspensions.

Joe, you might want to check out the Professional Rodeo circuit, Dodge allways has a show in the parking lot, although it will be in Vegas. There are some in Texas ProRodeo. Com - Official Home Page Of The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association: Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Saddle-Bronc Riding, Steer Roping, Bull Riding I went to Vegas to look at a Laramie C&C in 07, there were no SLT's or Laramie's to be found and I ordered it after I saw what I wanted to look at as well as the B&W Elite series bed that was on it that I ordered as well.
