Picked up our new HO 48RE quad cab 4X4 in Ruidoso Friday and drove it home yesterday. What an awesome truck, and a huge difference between this and my 01 4X4. What was very noticeable right off the bat was the tightness in the steering without the wander, and the smoothness of the ride. We had to drive in a strong headwind and had the AC on for awhile and wound up with about 15 mgp on average. I got a figure of 14. 7 but the overhead display was showing above 15.

After picking it up and driving along on some dirt and bumpy roads, I noticed a rattle sound coming from the left front fender well. I started playing with the fender liner and got the same sound that we heard when driving. I returned to the dealer to see if they would look at. The service manager rode along with me and heard the sound and after about an hour of playing with it, he told me that the sound was a loose pinion nut on the front drive shaft where it goes into the differential. He said the removed it cleaned it up, tightened it and the noise went away. As we left, we didnt hear the rattle anymore. However after getting back home, my father-in-law drove the truck and heard the same sound, and to him it sounded like the fender liner. I havnt driven yet on a bumpy road to see if it is the same sound. I thought it was interesting though that the nut would be loose. I also checked some of the other 4X4's on the lot and the fender linings were the same as mine.

On the freeway at about 70 mph I started noticing the same pulsating vibration that I also had on my 01 truck. The vibration went away though at about 75 mph and was smooth as can be at 80 mph.

The inside is sure a lot more roomier width wise and overall just a fantastic truck. Now for the Rhino lining and getting the 5W hitch installed and we are ready to go.

I hope the picture isnt to dark or to big. My computer is darker than normal for some reason and we cant adjust it.

Overall, this truck is great!!!#ad

You guys that are waiting for yours to come, it will be worth the wait. Others have said that and they were absolutely right. The length of time from order to arrival was one month.

Geez, how could I forget. The quietness of the engine is amazing although I will admit, I do miss the loud diesel sound that I had on the 01.
