Well I finished the truck last night. I had to go to Pheonix on Tuesday to get the new bed here is a pic of it installed

Then dropped it off at the paint shop. 750 miles in one day is alot for me. But it was worth it. He painted it on Tuesday night and we put it on Wednesday night after they rubbed it out. Another pic.

I am real happy with the final outcome and can hardly wait for the T-Rex Racing Suspension to go on. Maybe a week or two if I am lucky... ...

Here are a couple in the daylight with a good camera. The others were taken with a phone camera.

dumb-a$$ question

First of all, the truck looks sweet! But, I can't help but ask "why?" I am in NO way trying to flame you AT ALL. I am sincerely curious why you would convert a 3rd gen dually to SRW. I thought they made SRW 1-tons now. Did the dealer not have one when you got your truck?

I did see in your sig that you have a 2003 "5500"... which, if that ISN'T a typo, would explain the whole thing. Don't know where you got a 5500 from, though. What would that be? A 2-ton truck?

Again, I hope that you don't take offense to this post. I am just wondering why you didn't order exactly what you wanted in the first place.

Mr. Rabid,

I put a sticker on my truck to make it a 5500. Just a little joke for the mentally challenged sales reps at Dodge. As for why I changed my truck;

I no longer needed the DRW because I sold my backhoe and trailer. That is why I bought it in the first place, to haul the backhoe safely. It didn't really cost me too much to do the conversion. Mostly time and I had to pay for the tires. I have been missing my 01' SRW truck since I sold it and wanted to have one again. I went to the dealer to trade my truck and they wanted to give me a wopping $27K for my $40K truck. No thanks guys. I make my truck what I was trying to trade for and my payment is still the same, and I'm out a little blood sweat and tears.

Sweet. Question answered. Thanks. And, like I said before, it does look good! Can't even tell it used to be a dually. Thanks for entertaining my curiousity.

I was kinda hopin' that it was a 5500, though... :eek: That would make for a bunch more questions.

I know people have talked about the differrence in the DRW and SRW axles. Is yours wider than what would come on say my 2500(Ihave 11. 5), or do the 315's just stick out far??

Thanks

Diesel Dan has 315's on his truck and said that they tuck under the fender all the way. Mine stick out about 1. 25" . It is a little wider but I am pretty happy with it. It was alot of work and it turned out nice. My wife even said I did better than she thought. I guess that means she likes it... ... ?:D
