drw to srw

i like to convert my 04 3500 drw to srw. does anybody know what is involved?

Couple guys have done it, they will probably answer. I think you need a new bed and wheels, not sure if you need anything else.

I have done it and I am much happier. You just need a new bed and wheels. i have pics in my readers rigs gallery. For the front, all you have to do is remove the spacers and than any standard Dodge 3/4 or 1 ton SRW wheel will fit. For the rear it was even easier. Just take of the old bed and slap a new one on. The only problem is the dually axle is wider that a standard 1 ton srw axle so your rear tires will stick out a inch or 2 wider than the front tires. Its no big deal but just looks a little odd. Also the rear hub sticks out enough that the center cap will no longer fit. The duallys also have a different ABS program than the standard 3/4's and 1 ton SRW's. Now, under hard braking I can feel the ABS pulsing although the rear was no where near locking up. Member "Greg Boardman" has also done the conversion and I think he also has pics in his gallery.

WHY



What is wron with the DRW. I have a Short BEd SRW and was considering a move to long and DRW... What is better with SRW???

I bought the truck for stability and trailer weight issues. I dont pull as heavy anymore and don't really like having to go into the bank since the fenders do not clear the drive through, no more drive through car washes, etc. I really wanted to put some larger tires on the truck to make it look more sporty but your tire selection is very limited with the dually and the 17 inch rim. The dually is great if you use it.

Ok, That makes sense, didn't think of the car wash, drive thru ect... . I only tow in the winter and even with a new larger trailer will be less than 10k, Maybe I will stick with mine... Thanks

Never seen them on a Dodge, but I saw Mickey Thompson steam rollers on a Cheby that had duleys and they looked pretty good, though you would loose the load carring cap.

Just got back from a 2 week camping trip covering 5 states, and the truck performed perfect.
