what exactly does the 1698 and 1694 dtc mean in layman terms

DTC P1698 is set when the ECM doesn't receive communications from the PCM.



DTC P1694 is set when the PCM doesn't receive communications from the ECM.



Either of these DTC's can be set when the ECM or PCM is disconnected from their respective wiring harnesses and the ignition key is turned on OR either module is reprogrammed (flashed).
