When I called him it took a while before I ever got a call back, two weeks maybe. I have both his track bar, and link arms which I have been very happy with (about 60,000 miles on both now). I don't know if he is out of business or not, I ordered from him about year and a half ago. He said he was really busy at the time, I tried to express that he almost lost my business. I would say now that his product was worth the wait, comparing to what I have seen since. Hope some of this helps.

Later

I have their trac bar. It has worked well, but the heim joint (chassis side) has worn and I need a replacement.

To me, it's just not good business practice to not return phone calls.

Thanks for the info

DT Profab business practices?

I can't offer any explanation for non-response from DT Products - only have my own experience to relate.

I purchased a product from DT Profab for my Dodge Ram, and after receipt (and much deliberation) decided I wasn't sure about whether I really wanted to install. Hoping to avoid loss of a restocking charge, I called and asked David if he would consider an exchange. (Exchange of one product for another, less difference and shipping. ) He agreed to do this, and I returned my initial purchase. After three months, I had yet to receive my replacement parts. I called - several times before getting any answer. David's excuse was that he had been too busy, and had not gotten around to completing my exchange. This seemed unacceptable to me, since it was only costing him an extra half-hour of his time, plus it was like getting profit on two sales in addition to gaining twice the profit on one item.

I asked David when he could refund my money, less his restocking fee. He did complete that transaction fairly quickly.

I won't do business with him again. Also, my experience occurred some time ago - I refrained from posting this for a long time. But, I have seen plenty of negative comment about DT Profab since that time. I don't approve of his business ethics. His mediocre products (at best) aren't worth the trouble.

Hope this helps,

John

Last fall, i ordered some DT PROFAB upper and lower control arms for my truck----great looking, well made, heavy duty. Got confident one Sunday morning and tore into the job----my mistake after getting the one side of my truck apart ready to install the new arms---THEY SENT ME THE WRONG CRUSHED SLEEVES FOR MY YEAR#@$%! #@$%! #@$%!. Man was i :-{} ---truck apart and a no go. On Monday i called,no answer,Tuesday i called and sorted this out but at first they where sure about me getting the RIGHT sleeves----um excuse me sir but the stock bolt does not slide through the 7/16 crushed sleeve----DTPROFAB suggested i drill the sleeve out to 5/8---ya right ,a 5/8 drill bit is about 50. 00 bucks if not more----send me what I PAID FOR-----PLEASE. Finally the new 5/8 sleeves arrived 10 days later----truck sat apart for those 10 days cause i had other wheels to drive, but if not i would of been more bitter. PS if you order the arm kit. -------*HINT* CHECK THE SLEEVES WITH THE STOCK BOLT FOR PROPER FIT/SIZE. DW:D

I picked up his control arms around a year ago. I first talked to him on the phone, he answered the first time. I drove to his shop the next day to purchase the arms. He was very helpful to me, maybe because I was there in person!?

Sorry to hear about your experience with DT.

Dave returned my call last night. I was able to order a replacement heim joint. I wanted to go with their upgrade, but he didn't sound too confident in that I wouldn't cross-thread the aluminum bar I have. So I just got the replacement.

Thanks again for all the insight.

Dweil and Jsell, I had the same problems with them. No customer service. I got the wrong crush sleeves and the wrong shock mounts, took 2 months to get my parts. This was about 4 yrs ago. I am happy with there track bar but I have replaced the ends already, took some time for the replacements to come. I suggest to everyone to give up on this place, and shop elswhere. Good luck to all.

I have the Thuren trac bar on my 99. I will most likely soon have his rear shackle flip kit and maybe his radius arm kit too. Don is great to work with. He may not always answer the phone but he will call you back and when he does talk to you he is really willing to answer questions and work with you for the best solution. I worked for m2 months with skyjacker and performance parts trying to get the right parts for my truck. I ordered my lift through performance parts. It was botched by them and then skyjacker didn't make the right u-bolts for the dana 80 rear. They did send me square ones at one point? I tried to talk to DT about the trac bar but after the experience I had with Don I chose his and am very glad I did. He knows a thing or two and is honest and easy to work with. If links are what you seek check out thuren's setup. His new radius arm setup should be PIMP.

Is everybody happy with their thuren track bar? I am goin to buy one and just wondering if that is a very good one or if thier is a more desirable one. Also where is the best place to get the steering stabilizer? Thanks.

CRohwedder,

I am Very happy w/ my Thuren T-Bar. It is still as tight as when I installed it.

My Write-up:

A Strong buy. IMHO.

I have DT's ½ Forward upper & lower links. I am very happy with them too.

My bad experience w/ DT:

I had the DT Heim joint T-bar 1/2 way installed in my truck. It was on a Sat. DT was closed. I had tech questions. One of the 4" bolts that holds the bracket to the trucks frame is supposed to go thru a hole at the bottom of the frame and the top. Well the holes are 1/2" out of line. The bolt will only go in at a 30 degree angle. No way I could get a drill in there to straighten the holes. Second problem was the bolt was too long. It butted up against the steering shaft. Reverse it and it hung to low. probably would interfere with the piman arm. The only problems I had were with the bracket that replaces the factory tapered ball joint mount on the frame.

I got fed up and put everything back in the box and shipped it back. Talked to DT that next Monday. The long bolt is supposed to be tightened at a 30 degree angle (way cocked). It just didn`t look right. DT HEIM joint said they were upgrading the bar to include a "turnbuckle" type lengthway adjustment. BY NO MEANS LET MY EXPERIENCE WITH DT HEIM JOINT PERSWADE YOU IN NOT PURCHASING THE BAR. I just had bad luck. It was one of those days! LOTS of guys love it.

There have been reported problems w/ DT's T-Bar. Flexing at the frame and the heim joint hammering the axle mount egg shaped.

There are much better choices w/ t-bars now.
