okay i did a search and it does not look good but since i may get a 98 12v 4x4 would it be possible to swap my dtt from my 95 2wd into it and vice versa, from what i read the answer is no because of the pcm and wiring harness however i would have both trucks so esentialy i would have all the required parts to do it. I know the first response i will get will be to call DTT and ask them but its sunday and im impatient LOL i ll call tommorow but im just trying to get an idea.

JK,

The problem will be wiring/pcm related. the 95 is RH and 98 is RE. the trans will bolt in, but you will have to swap out pcm and complete wiring harness. sure would be a lot of work.

Talk to DTT about swapping the RH for a new RE????? I'm sure they would give you a fair discount if they were getting a built RH back in exchange. (maybe not) Who knows.

There is more than a few guys running an RH in a 96 or newer. With some added electronics I guess it is not all that big of a deal.

After I posted I got to wondering if a controller could be used to make the trans stand alone.

I have a 47rh in my 1996. 5 years ago, ATS had sent me the wrong trans, a rh instead of a re. The alternative was to send it back and wait about a month to get the new trans. I needed a transmission NOW. I had spent $965 to have it air flown to Hawaii and I was not about to have all that money run down the drain. Anyway, to get back to the question... . ATS had to send me 2 of their controllers. One for lock up and one for overdrive. I can dial in at what speed I want lock up to occur and what speed I want OD to occur, both independently. Other than that, it works just as if I had a re in it.

With the 47RH I am thinking it can be operated by two toggle switches, one for the overdrive and the other for the lockup TC. Not as nice or fancy but simple and cheap. For the 47RE, just swap the VB for a RH and do the above. I am planning on a 47RH to be used in the above manner so correct me if I am wrong.

Partyat33 swapped out his 6er with a BOMBed Goerends 47RH in his '01 3500. Has 2 switches wired up to control the O/D and TCC.

One good thing about the rh in my truck is when going downhill, I turn the od to max. speed so it doesn't come on, and the lock up to min. speed, around 18 mph. The result is like I have a stick shift and it will use engine braking to slow down the truck. I can lock up the TC in any gear, as long as the truck is moving at least 18 mph. That omits 1st, with my 4. 11s.

Get 2 differential pressure switches and pipe them up to your TV pressure and your Governor pressure. Then you can set one for OD and one for lockup. Then it will take into account TV pressure in relation to Governor pressure. This should work, but finding the switch might be fun. Also ATS has a completely programmable VB for the tune of 600 for the VB and like 1000 for the controller.
