my stock tc has started to slip between 10-20 mph when i accelerate up a hill. i already have the DTT VB and i am almost definately going to make a TC purchase from Bill K. however i am hesitant bc my budget is really tight since i am still in college at WVU. what i am really asking is this the best TC out there that i can get for my truck? i am planning on doing some bombing up to 300 + horsepower, will this TC hold this much power? and will it last a while, i mean i only have 50k on my truck now and about 85% is highway so i am steaming alot at DC for installing this crap TC in a $41k truck and now i have to replace it so early in the miles. anyway if someone can help me i would greatly appreciate it, or if there is anyway that i could meet up with someone that already has Bill's TC that would be even better than reading replys. i live in sharpsburg MD, and go to college in morgantown WV. Please email me at -- email address removed -- if i can meet up with someone that has already upgraded the TC. thanks a million

There is NOTHING better anywhere NOTHING

Bill Kondolay is the Guru when it come to our transmission :)

Bob covered the most important part of your question.

Yes it will hold 300 HP. Follow some of Bills driving recommendations and it will last too. Above about 350hp and he will start reminding you of the drawbacks and the fact you are lowering life expectancy.

Will the TC hold and deliver. Oh yeah. Will the TCC lining live a long and happy life if you apply mondo power and too low a RPM. Nope. No matter who's TC you get. Get a TC saver at the minumum.

Finally when I added power I too started having a slipping problem. Thought it was the TC, turned out to be the overdrive.

The only thing that is bad about Bill's TC is the amount of heat that it develops at idle in drive. I had to set the idle to 950 rpm in neutral to prevent stalling when I blip the throttle in drive or reverse. At that speed it only takes about two minutes in drive while stopped or in stop and go traffic to push the transmission temps to 260 degrees. This and the fact that it is really lugging the engine under these circumstances. I have a 91% tc.

CAnderson,

Who installed your gov. springs? Did they measure the stud length after the install? Do you remember that measurement?

Your pump shouldn't have the 'blip then stall' problem with an idle of 750+ rpm even with a tight TC. How smooth is the truck at idle?

I can't imagine having a 950 rpm idle with a DTT 91% TC. You must REALLy be mashing the breaks to stop that thing!

I have had the 91% for over a year and you definately need to keep your idle at 750 or less to keep the temperatures down. It also reduces the constant pull and harshness from P to D or R.

Chris,

I think Piers installed the gov spring kit, did it the day after the DTT install.

Chris,

You may want to have your cooler checked and a few things like that. I dont see more than maybe 200-210 sitting in drive, in stop and go traffic, in hot weather, etc. Sender in the hot line.

DTT VB/TC

Bandit1, I am having my DTT VB/TC installed by MASSDIESEL next weekend. Your more than welcome to come down and test it out afterwards. Or you could meet me somewhere around the Baltimore as I travel home. If your up to ti drop me a line.

what day and path are you planning on coming back. because i live in hagerstown md, and i would think that you would come down I-70 or I-81 depending on which way you plan on traveling home. i live not 20 mins from both of those highways, please let me know i would rreally like to at least decuss some things with you because i am planning a trip to MASSDIESEL here in middle of dec to fix all of dodges wonderfully engineered auto transmission. email me if you want with your traveling plans, at -- email address removed --
