On the way home today all was fine, for the first 10 miles or so. From a stop I took a left turn and the trans didn't shift out of first - had to let of the go pedal then it shift to 2nd and was OK shifted fine otherwise. Highway for 5 miles after that. Next stop, right turn all was fine. Came along to a point where there's a long line for the light, I always place in "N" and cost to stop, then as traffic starts to creep up I place in "D" and creep along. As I'm creeping along, foot totally off the go pedal, trans started out in L and then way too soon it shifted into 2nd - never did this before??? So I left it in "D" as traffic stopped. You could tell the trans was in 2nd just by the sound of the engine. Traffic started to move, stepped on go pedal, definitely in 2nd still, no down shift. Stopped again (same line of traffic waiting for ungodly short light) placed shift lever in 1st trans went into 1st, placed back in "D" trans went into 2nd. That was the last time the trans would go into 1st :confused013:

Another 3 miles to home, always started in 2nd, shifts fine afterwards and at 40 - 43 mph (easy on the go pedal) it goes into OD as normal. If I press the OD on/off button it goes off/on as normal.

Get home check fluid it's at the high end of hatch marks (as always) indicating OK zone, trans temp never got over 130*. It has "R" and seems like "low" (normal) as you back up. Place in "D" and it starts in 2nd, shift lever into 1st and it remains in 2nd.

Sorry for long post, but this is my daily driver and I need it. Could it be solenoid or ???? something simple?

Last service I did was last Spring (about 14k ago), complete fluid drain (converter has drain plug), filter, set bands per spec and fresh recommended (same as DTT builder installed and recommended continued use of) Merc/Dex II fluid. Service before the one above was same procedure as above except at 12k prior.

I'm going to check the shop manual in hopes of finding something and then try to call DTT before they close. Missed calling DTT :banghead:

OBD II code reader = no codes, no MIL . . . reviewing shop manual diagnosis & testing section presently. "No Low Gear (moves in 2nd or 3rd gear only)". Possible causes: 1-Governor Valve Sticking, 2-Governor circuit electrical fault, 3-Valve body malfunction, 4-Front servo piston cocked in bore and/or 5 Front band linkage malfunction.

Question (maybe stupid?) in the Removal and Installation section there's a "Governor solenoid and Pressure sensor". R & R section - the solenoids in this section are only referred to as "Pressure Solenoids" it shows two of them - is the one closest to the governor the governor solenoid or what?

Late note: after dinner moved truck from road to driveway put in "D" and it was definitely in 1st, had an appointment so just left the truck and took daughters car.

OK so I take it out for a ride and everything is fine? Then I get home and there's an email from DTT, see below - keep in mind this was sent at 10 PM!!! Now that's OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE even with the time difference.
