I was wanting to get opinions of any body that has installed the DTT update kit. Was there much of a difference? Is it worth the upgrade? ETC... ... ... ... ... .

Thanks in advance.

Smokin'

I had the DTT upgrade done. We made it part of a vacation and went to visit the Kondolay clan. Wonderful experience. A great group of people. (I do like to blow smoke, but I mean this!)

I'd say that the DTT transmission upgrade was the best single aftermarket investment to our truck that we have made. Period. It doesn't matter how much power you make if you can't get it to the ground and isn't reliable!

Did you have the DTT TC VB before then went and did the update kit? Or are you talking about just upgraded to the DTT system? I am talking about there update kit for the DTT system that has the 5 clutch system and billit shafts etc.....

If you are going to spend the money to go into your transmission, then spend a little more and do it all. That way you won't have to go into it again for a long long time. It may cost more, but in the long run it will be cheaper.

Sorry Sky, I didn’t see that you already had the DTT transmission stuff. I had mine done about a year ago and so I don't have the upgrade kit you are talking about. I was just speaking to Bill about my SmartController and I asked him about the upgrade kit. He said in essence that DTT’s transmission upgrades are constantly evolving, constantly changing to meet new criteria. Like Bill said, a year ago, 350hp was a lot of HP, now…. So, like most things, obsolesce comes fast. I’ll consider Bill’s kit when I see a need for it on our truck - like destroying a billet input shaft, hub, etc. Given enough time, I know I’ll be back to Bill’s shop for enhancements!

For those of you who are going to have DTT upgrade your transmission, just be honest with them about what HP you are aiming to make. They also want to know what your use will be such as towing, sled pulling, drag racing, etc. It will make a difference on how your transmission is modified and set-up. Go for it!

Sky, from what Bill said, the new mods make the Auto stronger still. Also, he has fixed the hard jar that comes from shifting from neutral to drive or reverse (not bad on mine). Some other things too. I don’t know that you would notice much difference between what you have and what’s currently available in handling or performance wise, but depending on what you’re doing with your truck, the update kit may help it to last a little (or lot) longer. Give Bill a call. Nothing like getting the info from the source!
