I just got off DTT's New Improved website, And all I Have to say is WOW. That New Stator Looks like the Compressor section of a GE LM2500 Gas Turbine, And Steam Turbine, IE, A Combonation of Blades and Buckets, And Kinda Like a Kaplin Hydro Turbine. Very Well Done Bill. I was wondering when someone was going to put The theory of Fluid Dynamics to work in the Automotive World.

I have Idea For the Lockup section, Instead of using "clutch material" for that section, What about adapting the Theory of the Locking Side gears of the "Loc Right Brand Differential" to replace the Clutch Material?. There would be no slipping at all! Even under HVAC's kind of Punishment. #ad

Now youre thinkin ,that is one of our on-going projects. Wanna a job?

Problem is it breaks parts, it comes on too quickly. Trick is to get to get it to slip just the right amount.

off on a tangent... one of the small-car companies has been "Toy"-ing with computer-shifted manual trannies--driver treats them like an automatic, but they use a "real" clutch---any reason why the lockup clutches in an automatic's TC are so small compared to a that of a manual... . seems like by now, the engineers should have increased the surface area available for that contact.

--although, BillK seems to have taken the right approach with the existing technology--after "lockup", his TC still makes a contribution to torque transfer, rather than having the TC just hand off the job to the clutch, and quit doing anything until unlock comes back... Just thinking into a possible future... rm

Very simple reason actually , the TC clutch system in an automatic was designed to meet epa standards. Ford uses a dual disc lining in the 99-2000 ford powerstrokes.

They have nothing but TC problems, TC clutch failures. Dodge has the same problems eventhough they use less lining.

Most of the Allison TC failures are actually TC clutch lining failures.

The TC clutch lining has to be engaged more slowly with the more lining you have.
Otherwise the jump from fluid coupling to
1-1 ratio is too violent.
Causing hard part damage to the automatic transmission.
It is finding the balance of how quickly to engage the TC clutch lining that is difficult.

Hey Bill ordered mine today-none to soon as I told you first trip with # 5 plate and 1/4 inch forward of stock. Torque converter slipped big time from lockup on if I even used 20 lbs of boost. Had to baby it until I got to 1800 when I could increase power but I was at 60 mph already. Looking forward to seeing what yours will do.
