I saw a 'Pulsetech' battery charger at Sears the other day... that would charge two batteries at the same time. That really appeals to me since I have to have two chargers going simultaneously to charge both batteries.

Do any of you guys use a dual-battery charger that you like? What I'd really like to find is one small enough that it can be mounted under-hood with the power cord poking out at the front of the core-support (behind the front grill) so I can just grab the cord and plug it in when I get home from work... . to keep my batteries topped-off. Right now it's a pain to grab two chargers... make all the hook-ups and monitor two chargers. I work 14-18 hour days and every minute I save NOT fiddling with battery chargers, means a few more minutes sleeping ;)

What say you???

I don't think you want a dual charger setup, since the batteries are in parallel it's like one battery and dual chargers may not work as well.

If I were mounting a battery charger on-board, I would buy a small (5 amp or so) single channel marine (read- boat battery) charger because they are designed for outside use (water proof, vibration proof) and they are designed to be hard mounted.

I have a pulse tech which I use on the roadrunner. They recommend using it on one battery only. I use a battery tender on the truck and it works fine on the parallel batteries. The paper work states it is fine to use that way as the battery tender just see's it as a large battery. Personally I think the tender works better than the pulse tech.

I have a single Deltran battery tender (5 amp) on mine as well. As to why... I have an Espar heater and it gets a little cold up here. Charging the batteries makes starting easier and I don't have to worry about the Espar pulling them down if I use it without enough driving to recharge the batteries.

Where it is really cold (Slope and interior Alaska), a charger is common along with multiple heaters and battery blankets. Not so cold here. Have only seen -34 this winter.

I had my rig parked for a year and having the Deltran doing a maintenance charge on the batteries kept them healthy.
