I see in the 1st gen. that some people have put the cummins dual filter head on the engines. Has anybody tried doing this on the 2nd gen. ? If so what filters are used to keep the water in fuel sensor? I ordered the parts the other day, so if nobody has done this yet I guess this will be a test run. I used the cpl# Shadrach placed in the 1st gen for the parts I looked up and ordered myself at work, I got the filters that people have listed in the 1st gen. and none of them have the large hole for the drain/sensor. Any thoughts? Thanks. I work for a Peterbilt dealership so selling truck parts so the cummins quickserve is not a problem and cummins parts warehouse is across the street so parts are easy to get.

The only 2 filters that have the large hole for the WIF ( water in fuel ) sensor are the FS1232 ( 18mm thread ) for 1st gens and FS1253 (20mm thread ) for 94-96 trucks. In the dual filter set up the small filter is 18 mm and the larger filter had 3/4" thread. Go figure why one is metric and the other isn't. If you used the FS1232 from a 1st gen and the FS1280 ( the larger filter in the dual filter setup) then you could use your WIF sensor. The threaded stud in the dual head isn't designed to be removed. For those who have access to QSOL. The 1st gen filter option is FF9053 and you can see the dual setup at FF9055. The two filter heads looks the same but are different because of the threaded hole for the stud.

As a side note those of you who have 97 and 98 12v engines could, if you wanted to, change to the 94-96 spin on filter set up by simply using the head and stud from a 94-96. Shadrach

I think I have read this correctly, in short the dual filter head won't work because of the stud sizes yhat the filters screw on to.

It can be used if you change your filter head and then use the dual head adapter. Or it can be used by only using the adapter ( option FF9004 ) but then your lines woudn't fit without modifications. IMHO it is less hassle, and better, to add another filter before the lift pump. Shadrach

It would help prolong the life of the lift pump. Currently all there is is the screen in the strainer/heater assy that is beside the lift pump. ff952gd doesn't show up in QSOL. Shadrach
