Dual Pyro

I seen in the magazine diesel world. They were running 2 probes 1 before the turbo and 1 behind it. Is anyone here running this? If so how is it, is it just so you can see the difference in temp drop? or somthing else? And who makes this gauge?

I am currently using the Spa dual pyro setup so I can monitor the temperature of my turbo for cooldown purposes mostly, also it's interesting to watch the difference between the two in certain situations too.

I also have two. I started out post turbo then later moved it pre turbo. Then I recently got the edge juice and it comes with a pyro as well. So I moved my guage back to post turbo since the hole was already there and all I had to do was remove the plug I had put in. Then put the juice pyro pre turbo. It is interesting to see the differences. Sometimes they are very close, others there is a big difference I have seen over 400 deg diff. One thing I have noticed is that after a long hard run the pre turbo gets down to 300 and the post turbo can still be well above that sometimes as much as a 100 deg. I have extended my cooldown times and use the post gauge to judge temp at shutdown.

I Agree With The Other Two Guys , I Already Had A Gauge But When I Installed The Tst Box I Decided To Run Two Of Them Also , Can T Hurt ... .

This is a relatively easy mod that some have done on this forum. All you need to do is put two probes in (one pre and one post) and run the probe wire up to a SPDT (single pole double throw) switch. You can then just switch between the two whenever you want...

im not so sure this is a great idea. the wires are alumel and chromel (sp?) and the conductivity is sensative... id stick with two gauges and do it that way.

The end of the wire, coming from the probe is usually just plain wire. It is cut short and the specialty wire is connected to a lead of plain wire that attaches directly to the back of your gauge. If you keep the leads, from the toggle switch to the gauge, relatively short you should have no problems with this mod at all...

I thought I remember reading in the gauge installation manual that you should NOT cut/modify the wire leads to the pyrometer as this will effect its ability to accurately read EGTs.



If true the switch would probably work but not accurately. I'd stay with two independent wire/probes, or at minimum call the mfgs tech support to confirm. Or has someone already done this?????

those gauges are cool, but i want to stay with needle gauges. have you seen any with 2 needles?
