Remove factory hitch ?

Can I tow this...

Has anyone ever converted a 2500 to dual rear wheels using one of the kits that JC Whitney sells? I have always been curious how they work and was wondering if it would add stability when pulling heavy loads. Jc Whitney has sold them for years and I was wondering if anyone would admit to trying it.

search the forums, I am thinking about doing something similar. There are quite a few posts regarding this subject.

The weight rating of the rear end is affected by the position where the tire is centered. Stock single wheel rears put the center of the tire in line with a point about 1/2" or so inboard of the mounting surface on the brake drum. The axle bearings are designed to support the weight at that point. When you do a conversion and move the center of the tires outboard several inches, you are putting tremendous leverage on the bearings and the housing, beyond design specifications. You end up with less weight capacity than you had stock with single wheels.
