I have a 90 w250 4x4 and just put a 9 foot steel flat bed on its very heavy and very wide. I want 1 ton springs and dualies. what do I need to change? I'm getting new rear drums (wich I read on tdr some were are the same as the 1 tons) so when I do that I'll get the longer studs pressed in instead of the old ones. is that all? other than new rims? Eventualy I'll get the spacers for front dualy rims. I think I'll take my truch to a spring shop and have them fabricate a "super"set of rear springs. I realize this still wont be a 1ton but it wont weeble when I'm loaded with my trailer.

Thanks Frank

If you want to save some weight you might try air springs in the rear instead of all those extra leaves.....

Hi F. boyle I don't think the widths are the same on a single wheel as a dual wheel I think the dual wheel will hit your leaf springs because it is not wide enough

Ditto on not wide enough, you will need to get a spacer to make it work. Also I do have a set of Dodge front dually hubs/rotors for a dana 60 axle and a set of OEM overload springs.

HHmm, I have an old rim of my 84 dodge I'll have to check it out. I might be interested in those hubs and rotors are the rotors good?? I need new ones, and drums and shoes and pads----new brakes in general. Will those springs fit my truck?? Oo. :D Where would I get the bumps for the overloads??

I was going to do air bags but the springs are more reliable and not much more expensive.

Thanks,

Frank

Springs come with all hardware including the stops, only thing you will need is some u-bolts for your axle. The rotors are fine but it wouldn't be a bad idea to turn them. The truck they came off had 33k miles and was t boned by a train. hubs/rotors/bearings $150, over loads, $35. I also have a very nice bed cover that fits Dodge/Ford 8 foot beds, that comes with 2 tops, one new in the box ! I will be at Muncie this weekend.

Those hubs n'stuff should bolt right up on mine right?? its got the heavy front end. even turning those would still be cheaper than 2 bran new ones. I'd get mine turned but theyre scared deep and realy warped:rolleyes: What would the shipping be?? I'm in Vermont. If I find any one looking for the cover I'll set them up with your name and get them your#.

Thanks

Frank

Yes they will bolt right up IF you have a dana/spicer 60 front axle. Which is used on both the w250 and w350 with a Cummins. Bad news is they are too expensive to ship, about $40 each.

Dana 60 Rotors & Calipers....

Crewcab, I'm really surprised that someone near you has not jump up and grabbed those front brake parts. If my figuring is correct, the would probably work GREAT as a rear disc brake conversion for at least a Dans 70. I really don't believe that It would take too much modification.

On my Ford, I plan on using the calipers and brakets off of a 4X4 GM 3/4 or 1 ton front end and the same rotors that are on the front of my '87 Ford 4X... But first must get on with the Cummins into the Ford swap...
