dually bed changed to standard bed???

Has anybody ever converted a dually bed to be used in place as a standard bed. I have my fender flares off and know that the wheel wells are trimmed extra. Just curious if anybody has put on patch panels or aftermarket fender flares to cover up the cuts.

Why go thru all the hassles??.

You may find a salvage yard to trade a dually bed for a standard bed easier. Not only that,but you will also have to change the rear as it is wider also than the 2500's. It may pay you to advertise a swap with other TDR members,I can remember s few who were interested in doing the conversion the other way to their 2500's... . Andy

I just measured rears and the dually rear is actually 2 inches narrower, it's @ 58" end to end, as the 2500 D-80 is @ 60" end to end. I wonder if i can swap hubs off the 2500 rear over to my dually rear. I just completely rebuilt it under a year ago, so i'm gonna try to make it work.

The bed is DESTROYED under the dually fenders. They cut them out with a dull plastic knife in a ROUGH pattern to make clearence for the duals when they articulate. The bed is FAR from normal under the fenders... . trust me :{

OK guys, just got my fenders off, there not that bad underneath, nothing that can't be fixed. Next question? I took the stock dual wheels off, and put on a stock 2500 wheel. The offset is perfect, and the clear the drum fine, only concern is how far back the drum sets. But realistically i think that the 2500 wheels set right in the middle of where the dual wheels would be so everything should be balanced fine? If this will work this easy why hasn't anybody tried this method??? Thanks for the input

Whoah your bed looks o. k? Mine looks like a drunken ubangi bushman with a sawzall went postal on my bed under the fenders. ..... What gives? From the rear the drums look kinda goofy without the duals in place that is true! A wider set of meats and rims will lessen that effect tho
