After being keyed and later having a branch fall on my bed, I am currently in the process of converting my 3500 SRW to a DRW. Does anyone know if the spacers needed on the front to accept the dually wheels are the same on 2wd and 4wd? I found a pair local that came off a 2wd and need to know if they will fit my 4wd. Also, for those of you with experience with this, has anyone used wheel adapters on the rear? I called a few companies that say their product will work just as good as replacing the rear axle. In fact, one company says that Ford used the wheel adapters on late model trucks for years before changing to a different rear axle. Not sure if any of this is true, but it definitely is a cheaper and much easier route than replacing the axle. Any input would be appreciated.

One factor to weight capacity is the support point (center of the tire/s) vs. center of the weight imposed (spring seat). With duals, the support is moved outboard about an inch without a spacer, several inches with spacers. This movement causes the leverage to increase substantially and REDUCES weight capacity of the axle housing.
