Titan "SuperTank" Install On 2005

Anyone have experience with these? I was looking at transferflow and Aero, Aero totally turned me off with how they come across and I have seen alot of complaint on their craftsmanship. Transfer Flow I have heard nothing but good things, only draw back is after having it shipped and the crazy install and freight rate my local installer wants it would be horrifically expensive. The Dually Depot look is exactly what I had in mind, I see they do very many of these tanks and they are their own brand. I havent heard anything on them though so please tell me about quality and how they have held up, thanks a ton. This is the 80Gallon fuel/tool combo. . $1395 installed. What do you think?

Dually Depot Tanks

My wife and i both have the 115 gal tanks installed on our twin 2005 CTD 3500 DRW 4 X 4 trucks. Dually Depot does an excellent job at installing. Try to get there at 8:00 am and you'll probably be out by 1:00 pm. Be sure to get the external fuel filter that the mfg recommends. that will give you a little extra protection. You will greatly enjoy the extra fuel capacity.

Thanks SECochran, how long have you had them installed? Has anyone else got some real time on these units? The aux tanks are seperate from the main tank, not like transfer flow where they feed the main tank. Does anyone think this would cause a problem running a FASS or Airdog type setup?

A friend of mine got a 115 gallon from Dually Depot mid October '04 when we both leased on to Horizon. He has had no problems and he got the external filter system installed also. THey did a good job installing.

I went to them before putting in the transferflow, they were very nice, the tank they were going to sell me looked very good and as you say thier own make and I had many people tell me that they do good work, but did not always give you the total price up front, such as charging for fuel to test it out after it is installed and other added expense that was not included in the quote. But I ordered one after telling them I wanted the bottom line price they gave it to me and made an appointment for install. We drove over 300 miles to get there on the day of install and they informed me that they were out of the size I had ordered and it would be 2 or 3 more days before they expected it in. I left and had an transferflow installed the same day. One thing I did not like about the Dually tank was the fuel gage setup and the way the fuel was transfered, oh well it worked for the best I could not be happier with the transferflow, however still have not met anyone that did not get a good job from Dually Diesel. Good Luck

My neighbor with 2003 SLT 3500 DRW CTD Quad-Cab bought a 100 Gallon Steel tank from Tractor Supply for about $205. He painted it green to match his truck and it looks good. He uses it as a transfer tank, but added a 12-volt pump from tractor supply for another $300 or so. So he just pumps gas from the transfer tank to his stock tank.

Me, when I get my lust wagon, I'm gonna just put a ball valve on a line into the tank and let gravity fill my stock tank from the transfer tank.

we've had one tank about 6 months. no problems. the air dog should work just fine. they will install a 6 way valve with a switch on the dash in order to switch betwen tanks. the stock fuel guage wrks on both tanks. for the 2005 they install another pump for the aux tank as the pump for the stock tank is inside the tank. the 6 way vave is covered under the tank price. the only extras are fuel filter set up and fuel for the aux tank in order to purge air.

I'm just wanting to make sure the FASS or Airdog wont hurt the pump. My thinking is, the FASS doesnt use the stock lift pump (I dont think), if the aux tank has a pump, will the FASS have to work harder to pull through the aux tank pump? or will it just make it easier on both pumps? I'm leaning toward the fact that it wont hurt either of them, but I'm not a pump guru so /shrug

i don't think you will need the xtra pump if you go with the air dog. the reason mine has an extra pump is that the stock pump is in the tank. if the stock pump were frame mounted then the valve would control which tank the pump is pulling fuel. call Kevin at Duall Depot and he'll answer you questions ( 574-266-9151)

I don't own one, I have a Transfer Flow tank, but I've seen many RV transporters using Dually Depot equipment and several owners I've talked to at fueling islands like theirs. There are probably hundreds, possibly thousands of Dually Depot fuel tanks operating all over the US in trucks used to pull trailers out of Indiana. Lots of guys buy a new truck, drive it to Elkhart and have Dually Depot outfit them, then go to work for one of the transporter companies in the area.

Dually Depot signs and literature mention the additional charge for fuel to purge the tank and lines but it might be a recent change due to complaints.

Every farm store in America sells transfer fuel tanks at prices lower than Transfer Flow and Dually Depot but the tanks they sell are generally not legal when plumbed to the existing factory fuel tank for on-road use. Farm type tanks are intended only to transport fuel to fill farm equipment using a hose and nozzle. Transfer Flow's literature claims that their products have been roll-over and crash tested and meet DOT requirements. I don't know but assume Dually Depot's tanks are also in compliance. It might be worth asking the question before buying.

Individuals pulling their own equipment can probably get away with using farm type tanks for highway use but RV transporters and others engaged in commercial transportation are regulated by DOT. DOT regs specifically prohibit gravity flow tanks. I've heard that DOT inspectors can fine drivers or take trucks out of service if using farm type fuel tanks in commercial road use.

Those of you that have the Dually Depot tanks with the fuel filters especially in the 3rd Gen. trucks, the filter that comes with your tank is a Fleetguard FS-1212 (10 micron).

If you want greater filteration (2 micron), the Caterpillar part # 1R-0749 will fit on the filter mount from Dually Depot. I was able to buy one from a Cat. Dealer for $18. 47 including tax.

I mentioned this to Cas, the owner of Dually Depot, the other day and he may start carrying them, in the future.

Hope this helps.

I was by there last week picking up a trailer & their sign out front said they are now stocking Supertanks. BTW, the Dually Depot tanks are DOT legal. ;)

I am curious as to the type and make of the pump and the fuel shutoff switch they are using, also where do they mount these items?? I had my son who is one fine fabricator make me a 65 gallon tank. I installed this in the bed with a box underneath the bed near the fuel tank filler for the fuel tank switch, pump and rac-cor filter. I am directly plumbed in to the fuel filler tube and the main tank vent for a closed system. There is a guage and switch in the cab by my knee to monitor the fuel transfer from the aux tank to the main tank. My problem so far is when it is cold as on the trip back to Alaska it takes more than an hour to transfer fuel and when it got real cold it would not transfer at all. I am using a Holly RED pump right now and a shut off switch that is an automotive style 2 tank switch with one port caped off. My drawback here is it has 5/16 ports on it and when the fuel gets cold it gets down to slow and then stop on the transfer. I am curious to find a better pump and switch. ?? I was able to fill up in Yuma and get all the way to the Canadian border before refueling, NO CALIFORNIA FUEL PRICES. But I found Washington and Oregon not to be to cheap either. .

I may be wrong but, it sounds like your fuel may be gelling-up (freezing) from the cold. If this is the case, you may want to consider a winter fuel additive to stop the gelling. You will also get some side benefits like lubricity, detergent, possibly a cetane increase and maybe some other advantages, with this enhancement.

Just make sure you do NOT use an additive that incorporates alcohol.

Thanks Buffalo, but I had already done that and also removed one small filter I put in right at the tank to pick up small pieces of aluminum from fabrication. It did its job and I also increased the size of the pickup tube to 1/2". I was thinging of a more powerful pump than the Holly RED. I was curious to what esle was used as per switch and pump. . ??
