Dually Tailgate Light Bar Part #s

I was one of the guys that called around the country trying to find the tailgate light bar kit. No GO.

TDR issue # 28 (newest) page 75, John Holmes listed the D/C part numbers to assemble a kit.

1) #55054823 Lamp housing (need 1)
2) #55054819 Lens (need 3)
3) #55054824 Wiring harness (need 1)

I may "Bite the Bullet" and order it thru Mopar-4-less or my local dealer.

John goes on to say, "This is a totally ridiculous price for what you get! However ,the alternatives come out looking hokey. The Dodge ones fit the curvature of the tailgate perfectly. "

Us guys that want the lights don`t really have any other alternatives. #ad

I had to piece mine together too. Once it's on,it's one of those items that really stands out... it's only money.

Has anyone put this kit on a 94 2500? My dealer said they had a customer try to put this on a 94 and it didn`t fit right. Big gaps ect. Bar didn`t fit the curvature of the tailgate. Drilled holes ect. Ended up getting a new tailgate. Parts guy said the changed the design of the tailgate after 1994.

He warned me against ordering it.

Has anyone installed more than the three lights?

I think that 5 lights,the 3 in the middle and 2 on the outer edge of the tailgate would look pretty good. Would it work? What was the price the complete kit of 3. I have thought of it in the past,but got distracted with other accessories.

I'm glad someone brought this topic up.

Just to give you an idea of the cost and list prices for the 5 pieces pointed out in the earlier post; cost is $50. 10 and msrp is $83. 75. These prices were gotten off the parts computer at the dealership where I work. Maybe it will help someone thinking about purchasing these and wanting to know if they are getting taken or not.
