It's an apples and oranges difference between a true "spray on" liner versus a "roll on" but I just have to rant about Duplicolor's new "Armor" roll on kit.
In the past, I've had great success with the "Hurculiner" roll on kit for many different projects and two different truck beds. This stuff is tough and sticks extremely well when the proper amount of prep work has been done to the surface.
A few years back, I tried the Duplicolor spray on bed liner in a can for my rocker panels. I wanted a spray on type Line-X but the cost was astronomical. Well, 60K miles + later, it's still there with ZERO signs of peeling anywhere. So naturally when I found a Duplicolor roll on type kit in a gallon can, I was excited to buy even though it was more than the Hurculiner kit. I have been disappointed and my truck bed looks worse now than before the kt was applied.
The roll on Duplicolor material is extremely inconsistent when applied. Lot's of large blobs despite being properly mixed. The roller brush is corrugated to work with the material but the brush is very rigid. Trying to cover the surface with this rigid brush is like a monkey F'n a football. Apparently, in Duplicolor's engineering office every truck bed is a flat surface without ridges, corners or angles. I ended up making a hardware store run for a texture surface roller brush which help ease the pain of the kit provided brush.
Like I mentioned, I've was completely happy with the results that the Herculiner kit provided but Duplicolor's kit needs some serious work. Please, save a few bucks and buy the Hurculiner kit for your next truck bed or any other projects that you have.
I will continue to buy the Duplicolor bed liner in a aerosol can stuff as this has been tried and proven in my book. My pickup rocker panels prove that and just about every thing I've sprayed this stuff on it.
