Dumb question about Holset turbo housings

Are they ALL interchangable, between H1C, WH1C, HX and HY35 models? If I needed to pick up a wastegated housing, it would have to be off a HX or HY model with the wastegate actuator swept forward (the wastegate actuator on WH1C hits the block on a 4BT). Would a used housing off a HX or HY model work for me with a WH1C turbo?

Not a dumb question... . evident by the lack or replies... .

I know the compressor housing from the WH1/H1 series attaches with a big band clamp, and the HX series uses a large internal retaining ring. So they are not interchangable.

Not sure about the exhaust housings.

No not all of the housings are interchangeable if I recall correctly the HY housings will not interchange with the rest but the H1C, WH1C, and HX modles will interchange with each other. And if you want a housing with the wastgate swept forward you will want the 12cm off an HX35 98. 5-2002 24valve. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Ditto on the HY housing. When I was searching for a used HX-35, I kept seeing disclaimers that something was different about the HY-35.

Good to know guys. . Anyone want to buy a 16cm2 non WG housing off a H1C?



Anywhoo, good to know especially about the HY35 and which turbo has the swept forward housing. I am actually very pleased with how the WH1C and 12cm2 housing turned out (I just put it on about two days ago) so no need for a wastegate housing, I think. Unless I end up with a 9cm2 HY35 :-laf But that will probably be a little while away if ever...
