Anyone have any input on dump bed kits? Looking for the usual stuff... price, reliability, ease of installation, etc.

Thanks.

Dump Bed Kit's

Vaman,

If you are reefing to A lift to raise your pickup bed, Try Pierce

great, (817)538-5643 Not for heavy duty commercial work. GWD

I Forgot

Vaman, I did not know it until the kit came in shipping, they make

2 Kits,The one I have is the light weight kit and to do it over I would go with the heavy duty kit,Better rear hinges and up to

3 ton cap. 160#V/S250# shipping Wt. I hope this helps. GWD

You might PM Rob Thomas he has one that used the stock bed. I think he even sells them and installs them.

Thing I never liked about the kits that use your existing bed is that you have to relocate your fuel fill into the wheel well or else stub it off and raise the bed to fill. Sort of a hassle if the bed is loaded.

Seems you would be better off with a new flatbed also.

My uncles truck (2001 quad cab long bed) has the dump kit from Northern Tool, it looks like Rob's set up, I haven't seen it in person, but I made my dad video it in action the last time he visited my uncle. Installation, involved removing the bed, installing an H frame on the bottom of the bed, mounting the hydraulic ram to the frame of the truck, mounting the fluid resevoir and pump, then all the usual wiring. I have this mod slated for the coming year (hopefully) so I'll let you guys know when and if it happens, how it goes and maybe document it with some pics.

I'm thinking about doing an under bed dump hoist like Rob Thomas'. He said his was the Northern kit, but thought the components could be bought separately for less.

Thanks for all the feedback gents. Hemi, I like the way you think... I was a lucky recipient of a bad fuel sensor. As far as the Northern kits, I'd like to go with theirs because they're local but I didn't see a kit for the Dodge short bed.
