finally got a close look at a set of alcoa's with the durabrite finish. . wondering if anyone does this. i have a set of polished baja's and would like to not ever polish again. . :) . some people tell me its a clear powdercoat overtop of the wheel. can anyone shed some light. .

They folks I talked to said it would last maybe 2 to 3 years at most. Now I was talking to them more about doing some kind of clear coat. Maybe this is a bit different?

What kind of cost?

Here's a quote from the website to help you out
On ordinary aluminum wheels, a coating is typically a layer of baked powder that sits on top of the wheel surface. But, with Alcoa Dura-Bright® wheels, our patented treatment actually penetrates the aluminum, forming a protective barrier that becomes an integral part of the wheel. It completely eliminates the cracking, peeling and filiform corrosion common in coated wheels.

I am pretty sure that this finish is added during the manufacturing process and simply not a coating. Unfortunately that would mean no way to send a set wheels in to have "finished".
