Just picked up two Duralast gold batteries (65-dlg). Got home and they don't fit in the battery tray and the hold down is too narrow? I confirmed the part number and everything is correct. Should I grind out the tray or get a different model battery?

Correct # for Duralast Gold is 27-DLG. That's what we have in ours. It had factory group 27's in it before we swapped. Perfect fit with 930 CCA each. Problem free after one year.

Same problem at Autozone in Albuquerque. Taking them back for group 27, only they have less CCA than the 65 group, 1000 vs 930?

i just had the same problem with Die Hard at Sears. They gave me the 65, but it was the 27 size that fit. TOO bad they can't get it right the first time. Its a real pain to run back and forth to get the right part because there "system" is not accurate.

I have a 2004. 5 and was wondering if a group 65 would fit my battery box. I would like to have the 65 instead of the group 27. Like they say size matters. Thanks

I thought that all the third gen trucks had the group 65 batteries, and only the 2nd gen trucks had the group 27's. I know my '05 has the 65's. Are you sure you currently have 27's in your truck?
