Where to buy trans rebuild for escort

case 970 info please

The company that I work for has a 2001 duramax with 36,300 miles on it. One day someone was driving it and it stopped running all at once, It hasn't ran since. So I was elected to work on it and found buy cranking it over that it had a fuel leak. It is leaking in the middle of the block on the very top in the "V" and running down the bell housing. I know the fuel lines run up there but it the transfer pump up there also. Is it a gear drive transfer pump? It has son much crap on that engine that it is hard to tell. any ideas? thanks

Seems like over on the D-Max board there were quite a few engines with fuel leaks like this. That was when they first came out.

I think there is a distribution block or some sort of pressure reducer back in that area. I remember some posts about connectors being cross threaded into this block, causing big fuel leaks. I think it was just a production assembly problem, not a design flaw. Haven't heard much about these leaks recently, so the factory must have corrected their assembly problems.

My boss says that there isn't any warnty left on the truck because it would only cover the block, rods, crank, ect. not something small like this. so Thus I am still on my search on the engine for the fuel leak.

Your boss doesn't sound like he is playing with a full deck. Call the dealer and see if it is covered for a fuel leak. If not tell your boss you need a service manual. It's not like fixing a 66 chevy  Unless you want to kill some time messing with it then good luck ;)

That's funny all of our customers think the same way about my boss. Well it ended up that the high pressure fuel pump was the problem. It has three plugs; like freeze plugs and they were all popped out and I noticed that A LOT of metal shavings was all over the place in that engine. I gave the pump to our parts guy and he called our Chevy dealer (what my boss shold have done) to get a pump and they said that if we pay $100 deductable then they would fix it. So I don't know what's going to happen.
