Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Duramax Injectors ----

But it does appear to be a huge problem----I'm so glad my 02 has Dumb Injectors. I hope the guys with the 3dr gens don't start having these problems down the road..... but I wouldn't hold my breath... .

I hope you get the injectors soon. I have had all 8 of my injectors replaces 3 times. The second time was the new design. It took over a month to get the parts every time. But now, GM is buying back my truck. I only hope the 2005 has less problems.

Cummins injectors have a much higher duty cycle. cummins aint stupid and I reckon they learned from dmaxs mistakes.

Cummins injectors have a much higher duty cycle. cummins aint stupid and I reckon they learned from dmaxs mistakes.

Bosch makes the injectors for both the Duramax and the Cummins. Hopefully there are enough fuel system design differences that the Cummins doesn't have these problems.

After having great luck with my '95 F150 5. 0/AODE for ten years I was very near buying another F**d until doing research. Didn't trust the 6. 0 or the 6. 6, although I would love to have the Allison trans.



I opted for a Dodge just for the engine and had to get the 48RE for the wife.



I love this truck and look forward to many years of good service, however it would appear that all makes can sometimes have problems;-/

I agree Chuck. They all have issues. I drive a 1ton Chevy at work, and it has been a very reliable truck. As a matter of fact, if I ever buy an automatic, the Duramax, Allison combo, will be my 1st choice.

I just put on a DT track bar last night, not because Dodge "lacks" a boat load of steering issues. Before that a DSS, all in a quest to stay between the lines... Remember the death wobble, I'll bet those who have experienced that at 80 MPH question their Moron percentage.

Then there are my Lift pump replacement’s and complete fuel system replacement, my VP44 failure at 52K, and a few more annoyances. I guess I am a Moron also! I keep putting money into this Package that has the Cummins in it. The list isn't complete yet either. I love my Truck and I love working on it. Good thing.



Not to mix Bombing with reliability issues I spend a lot of time fixing things that shouldn’t be broken at 70K highway miles in my opinion.

Every time UPS brings a box with the latest cure in it, the wife scratches her head wondering why our 2000 Honda Odyssey with 50K has never needed an aftermarket cure for its deficiencies…

Point being, I don’t criticize a mans choice because I have a Dodge, I'll buy another one.
