My brother has been working in the parts department at the local chevy dealership for two weeks now.

He mentioned to me yesterday, just out of the blue "Chris, those Duramax engines are crap!"

I asked him why he would make such a statement, and he stated that in the two weeks that he's been there, he's recieved three sets of injectors, and ONE ENGINE. He says the injectors aren't a cheap date either, something like 3700 bucks!

I asked him about the transmission, and he said all he's been getting in is Injectors, and that engine.

Now, you have to remember, I live in a town of 33,000 people, so for that many failures in two weeks on new trucks... ..... must be something wrong.

I also heard from a coworker that his nieghbor purchased a new Chevy HD with the Duramax, and with 6 miles on it, it had to be towed to the dealer.

I thought Ford was the only one with engine troubles in new trucks??

I'm glad I got the big "C" though!

My good friend who owns a huge rock plant bought a 04 D-max (paid cash for it) and is a HUGE SF Raiders fan so leaving the dealer to go to SF to watch the football game his truck died on the Interstate, so he looks behind him to see a nice puddle of oil, Low and behold his truck pitched a rod right through the side of the block. Needless to say that he missed his favorite team in action all because of someones screw up at the assembly plant. Also my ex-boss had an 02 that blew a bunch of injectors in the course of its life, got rid of it to a local guy and he is having a bunch of issues with it as well.

I have a buddy who had an 01 duramax, went through 3 sets of injectors by 144,000. The last straw happened when it puked a water and fuel pump at the same time as he was on his way to WI from NC to run a dog at the ESPN great outdoor games. His replacement? Blue Oval,6. 0. Some people never learn.
