Duramax service?

Hi All-

We have a new guy in my unit with an 07 Duramax.

It's his first diesel (hey, I didn't pick it for him... . but it still burns the #2), and he says it's due for it's first oil change.

Of course, I told him I'd be glad to help him, even though it takes away from my drinking time.

Never having worked on one of these, does anyone have any pointers?

I'm assuming Rotella T 15w40 and some sort of quality oil filter, but that's about as far as I can think right now... .

ac delco or fleetguard filter, and the oil of your choice [rotella, chevron, valvoline... ] not sure on the capacity in the dmax engine sump though

when you replace the fuel filter remember to pump the primer on the top of the filter base before you try to start it. Also, fill the filter up with fuel before you put it on.

i'd skip this one. . put any fuel filter in bone dry and clean. least chances of getting contamination in on the clean side [if you must prefil a filter, make sure to pour fuel only around the outside ring of holes. not down the center hole. same goes for lube oil filters]

On my truck I always pop in the fuel filter dry... . but I fill the oil filter however (after carefully inspecting it)... . hasn't let me down yet (done it forever).

What is the distance on the engine? Do change engine oil well within 1000 miles. You want to get rid of the 6-10 micron metal particles. Open the fuel filter that one replaces to find out what is in it, even to see if it was nessecary to do!
