Competition Clipped Water Pump

NO apologies needed for a sweet running truck like that! :-laf:-laf

Another neat vid in that group of a Dodge against a Dmax - looked like the Dodge pretty well walked away with a run in the 10's!:eek:

The vid of the Dmax kicking a vette ZO6's butt was neat too...

Used to be that a vehicle generating that power and those speeds was NOT for street driving - diesels sure changed that! :D:D

Used to? I suppose brakes and suspension advancements has kept up well to support that much power. But come on, there were plenty of cars back 20 years ago with too much power. The the average Joe Smo hadn't the money either.

I'd prolly NEVER wanna take a 1st gen up to 130 on the track little lone highway with it's stock brakes and suspension :) Tho my 3rd gen, with rated tires for that speed I'd be very comfortable in with stock parts... . So yeah.

Having been a teenager in the 50's, I can tell ya for SURE, precious FEW vehicles capable of running in the 10's were ALSO street driven daily, and most were single-purpose racers TRAILERED to events - nowadays, guys DRIVE them to/from the track - as well as to work and the grocery store... ;):D

I was at the pull in Utica WI, when he plowed it into the corn field..... That truck was impressive with alot of rpm... . But he didn't show the dodge 12 valve that he was against twice, both put them well into the field that day! Impressive truck to say the least... .

A little off topic.

Teenager in the 50's? Though you were older then that! :) j/k :)

Well, I'm talking when I was a teenager. So, 90's :) Mafg's were just figuring out how to work with fuel injection and things were starting to "get fast again". ZR1 vette with almost 400hp is close to a 800hp truck. But that's were my "need the money" comes into play.

But it's not only trucks doing all this. There are plenty of other cars that are driven to the track and running 10's and 11's. Things are evolving. That's a given.

In 10 years, hypothetically, when 1000hp is just a plug in box away (as 500hp is today... ) Can the average human handle it? Judging by you old folk on the freeways handling today's "average" hp, maybe not (THE GO PEDDLE IS ON THE RIGHT! :-laf:-laf ) however, there are limits. Maybe the smoking thing won't be the end all for performance, plain and simple horsepower regulations will be when the average 16 year old gets in a 1000hp truck/car and wins a Darwin award (I'd blame the parents. )

wow! he ran off into the cornfield! Fishtailed it pretty bad on acceleration too. thats cool

Yeah - I thought he was gonna end up in a cornfield in that acceleration demo!

Acceleration IS neat, especially when running around empty or at the strip - but these trucks are usually bought and used for pretty serious WORK and pulling heavy loads up steep grades - and yeah, the V8 diesels CAN be modded to do that too - but the Cummins inline 6 does it in style, and will keep ON doing it mile after mile, year after year... ;):D

I'm waiting to see how many of the Ford and GM diesels used in heavy service make it past the million mile mark before overhaul... ;)

On the other hand, if I was buying a diesel truck today, the GMC would sure get a hard look-see from me! :D

Here is that Utica vid (just uploaded). I beat that white Dodge twice that day on a loose track. That truck runs good and the owner is a very nice guy. He won the Badger Truck Pullers Diesel points this year. On a tight track... that truck is very hard to beat. He liked my truck and shook my hand. I'm not so sure it will last a million miles though!!! I know mine won't.

Pull vid

That is up there with my favorite pulling vids. . right behind BigBadDodge and his 100+ foot smoke clouds.

I think I've seen on ESPN a while back, maybe it was you tube. It was some arena pulls where some trucks just blew INTO the barrier. It was a soft barrier so they were kinda climbing it.

Trust me, I wasn't knockin the dmax at all. I was impressed as hell with what the truck did on that track... Like you said loose as hell, the rain killed it the night and morn b4 the pull. Props to a bad *** truck

Good to know - nice work on the tune!

I'm surprised they don't have software for you, they seem to have everything else for the Dmax crowd...

Beers,

Matt

They only offer tuning for the 01-04 LB7's. There tuning is hard to beat on those trucks with a stock turbo. I do have TTS rods in my motor and twin TTS lift pumps. They have some good stuff for the Dmax.

Thanks. That was a fun pull. I was just happy nothing broke. I don't have a locker in the front end and was worried something would break up there. My wife would have been ******!!#@$%!

I don't get why wifves and GF's would be pissed? Kinda like parents if you ask me. You could either A: build a truck with your extra time and money. or B: Sell crack on the street.

Tho, if she's ****** cuz she has to walk home as apposed to anything else, that's understandable.

It could have been the three week old son she was watching while I was out sled pulling.
