A few weeks ago, I was filling at my regular station in Golden, and this gentleman in a gas Landcruiser started asking me questions about the fuel additive I was using... what it was, why I used it, etc. I finally asked him what he drove and why he was so inquisitive. As it turns out, he is the proprietor of DuramaxSurbarban.com, the company in Arvada, CO, that converts gas 3/4 ton Suburbans to D/A using the drivelines from pickups.
I had seen some of his vehicles for sale on Ebay, and wondered about build quality, fit and finish, etc. He invited me to come out and drive his latest conversion, a 0 mile '05 Suburban with a 0 mile D/A drivetrain. It was perhaps the most impressive conversion I have seen. The fit and finish was incredible, to sat the least. It was for me impossible to tell that the vehicle was not completed at the factory. Everything was done very cleanly. It drove impeccable; no shakes, rattles or harmonic imbalances whatsoever. It had plenty of power, and was very quiet. For someone who has the money to invest in such a toy, I would say it is well worth the money. It surely blows any Excursion with the sick-oh-no out of the water. I would buy one if I had the need and the money. He is a real nice, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy, too. For anyone who might be thinking of this type of vehicle, I highly recommend contacting him.
