New Tires Don't Hold Air

Battery Disconnect

I just jumped up to 16's and 225/75R16 tires on my TT. I was 99% sold on the R250 until I read about the poor winter/cold performance. When/how we camp cold/snow are an option several month a year and I didn't want to risk it after some internet reading about them in winter.

But what I found was that the R250 was nearly impossible to beat in the summer highway rib category, especially when the price was factored in.

I ended up with R500HD's, still a solid should rib highway tire but with a M+S rating and designed for rock ejection which is good considering all the dirt/gravel our TT sees.

I doubt I will be pulling it in snow but I'll consider it, but $4-500.00 difference I'm sold on Duravis.

Most people won't run into that issue, the only reason I brought it was because it was the only reason I didn't go with the R250. The XPS Rib's are a Summer tire as well, so if they have served your towing well the R250's should as well.

I actually like the tread design of the R250 better for towing.

Ok, mystery over, I just bit the bullet and rode my Harley to Parker, hers the pics! There 6K lbs axles, but I noticed a typo on the tag, GVWR is typed at 1500.
The kg's listed convert to 15002.

R250's!!!!!!

Ok you opened a new can of worms, the 500HD is cheaper but the aggressive tread will grab more when turning tight radiuses

Yes they are cheaper, and more aggressive but not too aggressive in real life. I won't get many miles on them for 6 weeks or so, but looking forward the first tow.

The R500HD is not an aggressive tread. Having these on my truck, I would not even rate them as an A/S tire. This are more a summer tire with VERY dense rubber compounds, to the point that sometimes I think it was a mistake to put them on the truck. Very slippery in the rain, would not do good in snow or off road at all! For a poly carcass trailer tire, most likely the best one available in standard 16" sizes. Snoking

Well its a mute point now, I was quoted $1200.00 for the Duravis R250 235/85R16 and just out of due diligence I contacted Americas Tire in Lake Havasu Az and got a price for the same tire. When the salesman told me he had in stock Michelin XPS rib tires and would beat the price of the Parker Az tire shop with the Duravis by 50 bucks I jumped on it. The tires were Paid for here in SoCal tonight and will be waiting for me in AZ. My first choice was XPS rib so I think I got a good deal. The only caveat is I have to drive a 60 mile round trip to get them, but with the $70.00 mail in rebate and $50.00 discount I think I scored. Opinionnnnnnns

Yes, I realize there are cheaper tires, but I'm restricted to a small area, there are no Costco's near Lake Havasu. The nearest Costco is Prescott Az, but your not including installation, tx's and disposal fees. As it is, to get the better deal, I'll have to drive 60 miles round trip to Havasu. But thanks for helping me to feel better about getting raped. :-laf My problem is that I have to remove the wheels from the 5ver for replacement, (the tires are the original Chi-com's and are 10 years old) and I can't move it without fear from tearing up my 5ver. I've thought about buying them before I leave SoCal, then pay a shop to install them but it would cost close to the same. As it turns out, it is the same tire company that gave me a smoking deal on my Michelin M/S 2's, and beat Costco's price by $400.00.

I just bought a set of 4 Duravis R250 at Costco for $886 after tax, mounting, out the door.
Does anybody buy a brand new for a spare? Mine are over 10 years old. Probably should.

I have a brand new XPS Rib for a spare. It have never been on the ground. I bought it 10 years ago. Thinking about replacing it one of these days!!! SNOKING

My 14k GVW tilt trailer originally had 10 ply tires on it. I asked the seller why he had 10 plys on such a heavy trailer, I got the deer in the head light stare.
I'm shopping for new tires also as mine are now 4+ years old and just dont trust them on longer hauls. The local Good Year tire store recently started carrying Sailun tires. I was quoted around $185 a tire mounted and balanced for the S637 235/85/16s (14 ply). Im supplying my own valve stems. They are considered a steer/trailer tire and are speed rated to 75mph. Given these tires have excellent reviews and are literally almost half the price of similarly rated tires, I believe I am going to give them a try. My situation is a little different though, these aren't going on a high end trailer with expensive fiberglass wheel wells they are going on a trailer with fender wells strong enough to support a full size truck with 56" boggers....other than the skid marks in my drawers and possibly a cheap steel wheel there's not a whole lot of collateral damage when/if one lets loose.
I hear you on the heavy steel fenders, but this will give you pus to think. I have a boat trailer with heavy steel fenders welded to strong triangular fender mounts all welded to the trailer frame, not flimsy, but stout. Blew a tire and before the driver could get the rig stopped the tire beat the fender and mounts right off the trailer frame.

Would have replied earlier, but I spent all of March Rving from W. Washington to Virginia Beach via Yuma, Az. Not wanting the willpops that came on my trailer for this first leg, I priced Rv 250 vs Mich xps's and was told by Discount Tire that the 250's were being discontinued. I just went with the ribs and haven't looked back. I also factored in the $400.00 I didn't have to spend for a TPMS. Liked a previous poster said "put 'em on and forget 'em."

Discount Tire must not like Bridgestone, as I think I have heard this before about other BS tires. First it was the M895 all season all steel, which seems to be still available along with the R250. Snoking

Right after I posted that I was thinking similar thoughts. Many years ago a friend advised that they might be pushing a certain product not because of auditory superiority, but because of profit margin.
